09 CBR600RR with ABS with 22k for $8000. Reasonable?

Fully agree which is why I would never spend the extra because it says honda on it. If I could have had a black 2012 cbr 600 I would have but since there were none available I saved huge getting a new 2012 gsxr this year in comparison to any of the 2013 bikes. When I looked at the situation I said the same thing. They're all so similar why not save a bit of loot.

p.s. that red thing is still hideous :D

Ive owned a Suzuki and for the same price I'd rather buy a cbr that's a few years older. It's just the fit and finish and Honda reliability. Seriously the 07-12 are built proof. Check 600rr.net there are hardly any threads talking about bikes not starting or recalls and such. Gsxr, zx and even Yamaha there are some known problems with each year.

Think about it. Your 2012 Gsxr in two years will probably be the same price as a 2009-2010 cbr.

Not trying to hate or anything but Honda has loyal followers and good resale for a reason.

I know what you're saying and I do get it. Like I said if I could have had a black 2012 I would have done it. Resale wasn't a factor for me. Either I'm trading it in by the end of the season or keeping it for good. I've had it since mid April and I have 9k on it already. Saving approx $5000 buying a 12 gsxr made it worthwhile to me and thus far not one issue with the bike.

Hondas do have a way better resale value.
In thr 600rr forum I dont think ive seen anyone complain about the bikes reliability other than valve services gone wrong and fork seals leaking from coming down hard off wheelies.
its a fairly quiet forum... mostly tail light mods and fender eliminators.

Fyi... I hate how the gsxr you can do a fender eliminator for $60 and the cbr you are looking at $200 to get it done and a integrated tail light.
mods cost more on the honda.

It's also due to the undertail exhaust.

the tail vents i like if they actually function. my 09 tail section gets cooking (mind you, no heatshields because of my new exhaust and undertail light) so if those vents blow air into the tail section and cool it down i think its a good idea.

The "vents" look aesthetic, so I doubt they'd do anything (wouldn't the rider be blocking most of the airflow there, anyway?)

Let's review here for a second though: you're complaining that your seat gets too hot, yet you REMOVED the factory "heat-shield", which (although I'm an engineer, I don't design exhausts for a living) sounds like something that would be used to "Shield" someone or something from "Heat".

LOL personal preference (I hate single headlights on faired bikes). so NO ONE BUY ONE and maybe they'll sell me one next year for $7-9k?!! a guy can dream....

It's also due to the undertail exhaust.

Pretty much exclusively due to the complications caused by an under-tail exhaust... which is why I'm not a fan of them, but for THAT bike, I'd make an exception :p

Just booked a test ride @ Kahuna for the 2013 ZX-6R, too... wickedddddddddddddd

Ya the vents are probably just for looks, but a dremil can fix that. Rider may block a little but there should still be air flow.

... heatshield removed. .I know what it was there for. Apparently the carbon fiber exhaust us supose to run a lot cooler than oem though.
Last night I added a aftermarket heatahield, its the sticker kind. We wil see if it does anything, probably marginal improvement.

Careful with kahuna. . They are high pressure sales and bash every brand thry dont carry. Also watch for their gps insurance replacement add on. They give you a gps transponder you hide on your bike for theft tracking, but the policy is something like 2 grand....really thats what your regular insurance company is for. They tell you they will replace the bike for free if it gets stolen... doubt they will.(second handbinfo from someone who bought there recently)

WOW, thanks for the trouble and the work to help me get the idea of fair pricing for CBR!!!! I will definitely look into them!! Thanks again!!

just be sure to go over the bikes very well.. i have no idea the condition of any of these but the price of the one you were looking at is too high.

someone else just grabbed a 09 from a dealer and ran into some issues with it... i thought it was you at first and was thinking ah crap i sent a list of cheaper bikes...
