New Ontario Blue Licence Plates- Your Opinion?

As far as I know, our flag was made to avoid looking British or French in any way, thus reduce tension between the French and English speakers. On further research, we used to just use this: The current flag is based on the "Pearson Pennant" (named that because Pearson actually really liked...

New Ontario Blue Licence Plates- Your Opinion?

If it saves money and is of equal quality, good. It sounds like it won't be (Waste of money). Redesigning them was a waste of time and tax money. I don't like the design but that's irrelevant. This government has redesigned a lot of signs, stickers, plates, logos... Coincidence his family runs...

Kill rate of 2%, mostly elderly and immuno compromised, weaker than a flu. Just wash your hands and don't lick strangers. Or we can avoid chinese businesses and chinese-looking people like the ignant cows that we are.

Who's still riding? (Fall & Winter 2019 Edition)

I didn't want to make a new thread, and this is the most active one on the forum. Just wanted to share an article about what should be a well known fact: DOT stickers mean nothing. https://www.rideapart.com/articles/397241/dot-helmet-failure-rate-increases/ Not every DOT-only helmet is bad...

How do you deal with stupid drivers?

I'm wondering what would be the safest thing to do... Perhaps slowing and moving to the shoulder was the best idea. With traffic behind the salt truck, coming to a stop might be dangerous. The driver also can't see directly down in front, and wouldn't know how far the car is sticking out... So...

Anybody tired of the Teacher's Strikes?

I hope so. Teachers shouldn't just deliver subject material, but help parents raise critically thinking, non-complacent, morally decent young human. Ideally, without the need to resort to religion. Teachers should be telling students to "do something", I don't know if they added "go strike" or...

Anybody tired of the Teacher's Strikes?

Well the government closed schools, made mandatory online courses to save money. For some reason that's not the topic of discussion... so is this good or bad for students? Remember when the policy changes first happened and THE STUDENTS went on strike? They've given up. This unusual time...

Anybody tired of the Teacher's Strikes?

The education system has gone very downhill, no OAC, courses aren't available in so many schools... The Union is advocating for many other changes, compensation is just the only item I see in the news. Sent from my SM-G930W8 using Tapatalk

Anybody tired of the Teacher's Strikes?

You know who got a raise this term? Printing and signage companies. -Replace signage for the new Ontario Trillium logo -Print stickers for every gas pump at every gas station -Replace signage at every border crossing. All while 12th-graders won't graduate this year because mandatory classes...

Anybody tired of the Teacher's Strikes?

Exactly. With education comparable to a Master's, and the debt that comes with that... It can take years of applying for a job before you get on a school board to merely supply teach. It can take years before your first long-term contract.

Anybody tired of the Teacher's Strikes?

Personally, I agree very much with this. Not necessarily paying teachers more to compensate for worsening conditions. I would like more schools (smaller class sizes, and shorter commutes), better equipment, enough supplies, bring back teaching assistants.

Anybody tired of the Teacher's Strikes?

Well they are doing 60 hour weeks. Early on, 1 hour of teaching is 1-2 hours of prep (grading and lesson planning). After a couple years when the plans have ben revised and tweaked. you can maybe get down to 0.5-1 hour of prep. That negates the "2-month vacation" and then some. Most people get...

Anybody tired of the Teacher's Strikes?

I won't give you my opinion on whether teachers "make enough" or not. Here's some facts most people don't know. Someone on TV said the average teacher makes $90,000 a year, which is incorrect. the bulk of them are makingaround $60K. Here's the paygrid: (Salary Grid for TDSB Elementary...

Back to riding ... need feedback please

I'd recommend focusing on low speed handling skills to shake rust. I may be be wrong but I thought Total Control had a lot to do with track/high-speed riding. I haven't done the RTI refresher, but I've done their beginner and advanced courses. It focused on low-speed, technical skills in tight...

How do you deal with stupid drivers?

While I believe in making mistakes and learning from them, learn from other's mistakes whenever possible. Let kids fall and bump their heads? Sure. Ten years later, let them fall off a motorcycle, crash on a race track? Sure. Let them crash on the highway? No. Some mistakes have catastrophic...

I also recommend motogymkhana. Cheap/free, with no traffic. Makes for excellent technical skill. The desire to "push yourself" needs an outlet, and preferably not on Snake Rd or the DVP.

    We had the talk.......

I totally agree with you. It was supposed to come across half-jokingly. I aim to never get hurt, but every few minutes before and during the ride, a voice in my head says "you know you could die any second here, right?" I think I drive more carefully as a result. I remind myself and other...

How do you deal with stupid drivers?

The immigrant thing is real and true anywhere. It's a driving "culture" that is being imported. There are many things we do on roads that are not from a rulebook, either unwritten rules or just habits. Different levels of acceptable "politeness" or even "over-politeness". “The road, more than...
