    acf-50 and heat

I assume the warning about heat is for the liquid form being flammable before application. Once applied it's clearly okay.

Someone shared this with my today. I haven't had time to watch it yet, but it might answer your question.

Okay, my headers go 4-1, then into the baffle (muffler?)

Cold Weather Running Question (and history)

I bought the 03 in 2008, and it had the Hindle on it when I bought it.

Cold Weather Running Question (and history)

Personally, I like the sound better than the Hindle, but it doesn't seem to be any louder. I've never liked loud.

Cold Weather Running Question (and history)

I found a photo from the day I bought it. This is the exhaust on the 01. Anyone familiar with D & D?

Cold Weather Running Question (and history)

I have no time at the moment, but I hope to have time to work on the 01 soon because the carbs off the 03 are ready to be put on, and the bike re-assembled. I'm curious how it'll run in the cold with the carb swap. That'll be the only change from last winter to this winter. Btw, 16°C when I...

Cold Weather Running Question (and history)

I think we can rule that out since one bike runs great in the winter and the other doesn't. If that was the case, neither would run great.

Cold Weather Running Question (and history)

My 03 has Hindle exhaust. The 01 had a chrome exhaust of an unknown aftermarket make. The decal peeled off.

Cold Weather Running Question (and history)

No, I started to swap the exhaust, but it wasn't plug and play. I would have to have trimmed the pipe and decided not to. You think the exhaust could cause this issue?

Cold Weather Running Question (and history)

Great information, thanks! My mixture screws are sealed, so they'll be factory set for non-ethenal fuel, as you say. I never thought of that, and should fix that. I don't think that's the reason for my current issue though because the carbs, as they are, were on the bike that run great all last...

Cold Weather Running Question (and history)

I'll look into this. Thanks. What I did though, in the spring after I discovered it, was clean it good then coated all the problem areas and bolt/screw heads with belt dressing. Belt dressing works great for battery posts to prevent corrosion. I was given this tip by an old-timer "Battery...

Cold Weather Running Question (and history)

It has fresh gas, but I'm not sure the pumps here have switched to winter gas yet? That could make a difference. I've had this 03 since 2008, and it's been an issue for at least the last ten years. Runs great in the heat, and acts up when it cools in the fall. I assumed it was just how it is...

Cold Weather Running Question (and history)

I guess I'll find out when I'm able to replace my timing chain. I'll check all that.

I suggest finding a local design student. Give them a couple bucks to do it for you. Check Marketplace or Kijiji? Maybe search for freelance design or graphic design tutor. They would have a student license for Photoshop, and have the skill. A student would likely charge around $35/hour (in my...

Cold Weather Running Question (and history)

I'll look into that and see if/how it can be done. I assume theres a motor to circulate the oil, but it could be the same system that gets the oil to the moving parts for lubrication. That would make sense for keeping the engine warm and effecient.

Cold Weather Running Question (and history)

I read about the oil thickness recently, but I can't remember if I factored that in when I changed the oil on the 01 for last winter. I'll look into that. Thanks. Being air cooled, I don't have to worry about the thermostat, but I do have an oil cooler. I should clean that off, although that...

Cold Weather Running Question (and history)

They are identical bikes (other than rim dimensions, as I discovered). 750cc air cooled carbureted (obviously). The choke is manual thumb lever. I turn it on the start and gradually turn it off within the first minute of running. Same fuel, oil, and filters. Both up to date on regular service...

Cold Weather Running Question (and history)

I have an 01 Katana, and an 03 Katana. Overall, the 03 is in better condition, and was my original bike. The 01 was bought complete, but as a donor. I don't know if it was the exhaust or some other mechanicals, but I liked the sound of the 01 better, so last summer I switched to riding the 01...
