    Coronavirus

Yeah I am being serious, there is nothing wrong with a couple people having some beers around a bonfire and then responsibly enjoying some distanced outdoor activities. The risk level is quite low. If it were as bad as you would suggest, then half the province would already be dead, given the...

Life is full of risks. Manage yours according to your own risk tolerance. Some would call you a fool for riding a motorcycle, which I'm sure isn't something you'd agree with, right? Same type of deal.

Nothing wrong with that, outdoor transmission risk is significantly lower than indoor.

https://www.680news.com/2020/12/20/all-regions-in-ontario-to-enter-lockdown-starting-christmas-eve-source/ I wonder if this means a spring style lockdown, or just a continuation of what we in Toronto already have (plus schools closed).

    Remember this guy?

It's a myth that uneducated people are evil. Some of the most evil people in history were extremely well educated. For example, the upper echelons of the Nazi machinery were filled with highly intelligent people (most of whom the allies were happy to scoop up and use for their own purposes, but...

    Bike lanes won't kill you

During the pandemic the city has gone full steam ahead with the bike lanes on Bloor in the west-end, and it's been a complete gong-show. Bloor is effectively one lane each way now. Right turn on red has been heavily restricted, causing traffic jams because everyone has to wait behind someone...

    all weather vs winter

It's not just about weather, under 7 degrees most tires (even all season/weather) ones will become hard. Winter tires are softer and stay softer during colder temperatures. For this reason I've always put winters on my car.

    Coronavirus

You really, really do not want to go down this road. This is one of the main arguments against universal healthcare, and that is that it takes the responsibility of personal health away from the individual and makes it the business of the state. Any activity that can impact someone's health is...

    Coronavirus

And where in your table did they provide numbers for the denominators, or provide per capita test positivity? One postal code could have triple the population of the adjacent one. One postal code could have mostly young people, who are less likely to go get a COVID test because their symptoms...

    Coronavirus

Percent positivity is a useless metric though, unless the number of tests conducted is standardized per capita. If you only test 20 people and they all test positive (nursing homes, for example), then your positivity rate is 100%. In fact I'd argue percent positivity is entirely useless right...

    Speed cameras

There's a relatively new one on Jane now, between Lambton and Eglinton. It's a 50 zone on a hill and the sign advertising the camera is a bit obscured due to long tree branches. I've seen lots fall victim to it already.

AFAIK internal mobility rights have not yet been challenged, so we're in uncharted waters. If they do issue regional stay at home orders I hope someone successfully challenges it in court. Such orders set extremely concerning precedents for people's rights.

It will never happen here as mobility are rights are largely protected by the constitution (as it should be).

No, the system is fine as is. It was designed intentionally to encourage unity. If you make it based on population then people in the coastal cities will dominate every election, to the point where large parts of the midwest/south will have no incentive to participate in the union whatsoever...

I bet Peel will be in full lockdown come December. Their cases are and have been out of control, and it's Diwali this weekend so it's not looking good.
