in the fall I will not ride much below 8 degrees. This time of year it just seems that the urge to ride is there when it is 2 or 3 degrees. Magically 2 in February does not feel so cold as 8 does in November.
I am 5'1" and ride a GSXR 750. Lowered it 1 inch and got myself a pair of Daytona boots with "height enhancement" built in. Still not flat foot but certainly I have no concerns. I can not imagine you having much issue at 5'9" but regardless, do what you feel to be necessary to make your bike...
I had a 2008 GS500F as my first bike. Overall it was a fine beginner bike that was very forgiving to learn on.
The downsides of my 500 were:

Still in the package. Paid $75 for them from Kahuna a few months ago but never used them. If you want them PM me.
Thanks for the feedback.
I have been riding for 3 seasons and just over 30,000 kms. One bike per season starting on the GS500F then to the FZ6R and now the GSXR750.

I am getting ready to do my M2 Exit and figured that I may do the training program. Any first hand recommendations as to which course is best? Also, do any of these have bikes that I can take the test on or do I use my own bike?
Thanks
Thanks everybody. I am thinking about a "play-it-again sports" type business aimed at the motorcycling community that would focus on Gear, parts and accessories. Love your feedback on the idea. It would be my winter project.
I am in as well. Missed it last year but Greg really enjoyed the ride. Hope to meet some female riders as well. Check out the web page www.marksrun.ca to see some photos from last year.
I look forward to meeting you John.
