Has anyone figured out a way to remove the road rash off a factory exhaust muffler and buff back out to try to get looking original?

Oil for colder weather 5W30 vs 5W40 vs 10W30 vs 10W40

That was from my Dad who always complained about 6 volt electrical systems in his vehicles in the '50s and moreso during the winter months. We lived in the country and to get to work on a winter morning he would fire up lumps of coal under his VW truck the night before. On some really tough...

    Honda’s $225 Million Mistake – Rune Review

Before the model was sent out to dealers, Honda Canada was taking orders with a deposit but with no final cost specified. My neighbour a die-hard Gold Wing guy got caught up in it so laid down his $. When he later heard from the dealer on the selling price, he took back his deposit. Didn't...

    Vintage Insurance

A few years ago I was able to insure a 25 yr old bike at a great rate. I think it was Dalton Timmis? It came with a few conditions like getting an appraisal and limiting it's use. Is anyone still doing such?

    Lost Title

Yes, that may be the issue. The bike was handed to a mechanic for work performed on his car. Its been a few years ago now and he can't recall where he left the ownership paper. I'm starting to doubt whether he was handed the ownership so there could be a possibility of a theft matter in...

    Check this out

Sent to me from a buddy who was selling one of his older bikes on Kijji`. Seems the guy that responded wanted the bike for next to nothing: "Looks like the High priced Vintage japanese bikes that Covid drove up is now coming to an end, Just because a bike is old does not make it worth money...

Buy now or after the holidays?

What are the thoughts on buying a used bike in now in Dec or January ?

    Parted out Stolen bikes ?

The other bothersome issue is when folks posting their bikes fail to mention the specific models, ie: Vstroms, FZ's, DR's etc. Why can't they indicate the displacements of the engines.... ie: Vstrom 650 or 1000, FZ7 or FZ9, DR400 or 650, It compels me to ask which the seller for that info...

    Parted out Stolen bikes ?

Been watching the threads on stolen bikes in the GTA and have sympathy to the loss of the Owners. I always wondered where the stolen bikes ended up or were they parted out. I recall that a few were located during past track day events. Reason to ask is I have been on FB, Kijji and CL...

    When a good idea...

Example of a blind head from one of the race engines attached

    When a good idea...

A blind head is a phrase for a cylinder with no detachable head. To get to the piston one has to pull it down from the crankcase but with the engines I deal with, the crankshaft has to be detached from the piston rods. Installation is the reverse which is a PITA .

    When a good idea...

I work on a lot of classic Mercury Outboard race engines that date back to the '50s. Mercury's had a blind head and inserting pistons into the block was always a challenge, especially the two cylinder racers. Some days it would all come together in a matter of minutes, other days I would spend...

Anyone know how I managed to do this?

The last time that happened to me was on my '69 Triumph 650 Tiger. It had a single carb and was told it was a more common failure on the dual carb Bonneville's with one carb going lean. The failure happened at highway speeds. Mechanic could not figure out what caused it but back in those days...

Small trucks that will hold a bike

I ordered a 2021 Taco Premium two years ago. When it arrived it was last spring (2022) and the dealer was hoping that I would forego it and order a 2023. He told me it was worth $10K more the moment I took it off the lot.

    2023 Models

As a follow up, I reviewed the '23 lineup from Kawasaki and Suzuki. Interesting, Suzuki has no Cruisers in their lineup and removed a few '22 models. Their new 800 cc shows up in their Vstrom and naked model. Seems like it could be an in- between favourite for folks. I wonder how insurance...
