Generally sliders are included with stainless hardware for this reason. A stainless bolt has a lot of stretch to it, the OEM hardware is case hardened and generally dont like being bent.

is this a motorcycle? If so this is my vote. I find a LOT of custom stuff is ugly.......so I'll only consider stuff that came off the factory floor for this thread ;) The 80's werent a great decade for aesthetics either......but some of the 80's stuff is also terribly bad ass.

Motul chain cleaner is safe for paint......strips that stuff off ten times faster than wd 40 too. Same thing, apply it to the micro fiber towel.
