Seems to have worked. Two days of riding without dying at idle.

Changed the sparkplug boot and it seems to be running fine going to test a lot over the weekend. Survived the 15 minute idle reset in this heat.

I think the injector is the same now, the older one (75041023044) has been superseded by a newer one (75041023144). Trying someone else's is a good idea, but it needs to be from a working 690. It could still be other things for sure.

I know of at least two online cases where the issue was resolved by replacing the injector. Have you tried your friend's injector? I don't want to throw $150-$200 for nothing, but might just do that since I don't have a second bike =)

I will have to try it on the road and report back. Without load it doesn't really like to keep running when i make it bog, on the road it's just as if combustion is temporarily suspended and when i roll off the throttle and roll on smoothly it comes back to normal operation.

Did yours fail outright, or you experienced some kind of symptoms leading you to change it? No problem, definitively appreciate the help. Those maps in the first link seem to be fairly well accepted to work with. Ofcourse without tuning on a dyno it is a bit of trial and error and risk.
