Cheap GPS device @ Canadian Tire, may be great for warm weather rides.

also, try only loading the maps, POI, Building, etc.. you need... You don't need the USA stuff if you are not going there any time soon... and if you do go to the states then install only the state you need. That should free up LOTS of memory.

Just added to Vlad's FTP site my updated N.A. speed cams (and redlight cam). This is a compilation of speedcams from 4 different websites. I deleted all the repeats I could find.

Excuse my ignorance but what is a speedcam? Radar? WHat does it do on the gps? Audible or visual to let you know?

They are audio and/or visual warning of known redlight cameras and speedtraps in Canada and the states.

On the map you see a picture of a camera.. You can turn this on or off in the settings menu under "warnings"

If I didn't already have two Curtis units I'd be buying this one for sure:

sku_22067_1.jpg

- Built-in bluetooth wireless, works as a bluetooth handsfree device
- Built-in FM transmitter transmits all sounds (including bluetooth handsfree, music, video and GPS instructions) to your vehicle's stereo system
- 5.0" ultra large vibrant color TFT touch screen LCD

- 480 x 272 pixels wide screen resolution and aspect
- Microsoft Windows CE 5.0
- Comes with a 2GB SD flash memory card- iGo USA maps

Other features seem very similar to Curtis', even the suction cup mount looks almost identical. According to DealExtreme claim it should be as hackable as Curtis too.

$118.49, free shipping, no tax, no duty. Order here.

Awesome thanks Splash

Don't lick the greasy windshield :o, clean with rubbing alcohol. If that doesn't help your suction cup is cracked or badly molded or (less likely) your windshield is crap. I have two and they are both holding very well.

FTP update:

To keep things in order, I am asking all contributors to drop their files into the \Drop new files here! folder only (you can create subfolders if necessary). I will review them and put them where they belong.

All other FTP folders will be periodically synchronized with my master copy effectively nullifying all changes made by anyone else but me. In other words, changes you make from now on in any other folder but the one above are as good as if you didn't make them at all.

Guys i seem to have found a way to turn down the volume in the newest igo version . When i copied the kikker skin with audio i put it in bot the igo folder AND the uigo folder(content) . Seems to be working perfectly. I didnt manipulate any shell ini's or anything. Dont unzip either

I have been using the waterproof RAM AquaBox the last couple weeks and really like it. It comes with a bunch of foam padding that you can cut and custom fit to any GPS/PDA and the touchscreen works well through the waterproof housing. I use it for both my nokia pocket pc (for satellite imagery maps - very handy for dual sporting) as well as my Magellan GPS. Highly recommended!!

Cool. What size box did you get and how much for the package?

Am I the only one who fails to see the point in that lock? I mean, I'd just twist the wing nut on the mount loose and take the gps and box together.

Ram mounts are awesome aside from that.

No you are not :). That's why I replaced that wing nut with a plain nut. I would also replace that padlock with a zip tie or something that's not going to look as ridiculous and dance around as much. I hate dangling things :)

I got the "medium-wide" version - I belive it was $40 for the box, and about $20 for arm and mounts... $60 total from Radio World (www.radioworld.ca) - 4335 Steeles Avenue West in North York. Their prices were practically half the cost of ebay or any other online store I found. I was suspicious at first because the prices were SO low, but I went to their store and everything was legit. Great store, highly recommend giving them a visit.

Yah, I really don't know why they have that padlock option - I obviously do not use it and just bring my GPS with me if I'm parking my bike somewhere. You don't even need a ziptie though - the box closes securely enough without anything... I've never had it pop open on me, and I dual-sport through some pretty rough terrain at times.
