Cheap GPS device @ Canadian Tire, may be great for warm weather rides.

Does anyone know how to tame volume control in iGO? It seems to be at 100% no matter how I tweak the settings. I listen to music at a comfortable level, but as soon as I start iGO the volume goes up to stratosphere. Exiting iGO returns it to normal, so...

Version compatibility
8.3.2.71348 Works, but is unusable because volume is stuck at 100%.
8.3.2.64873 Works perfectly.

We have the 8.3.2.80621 now and that doesn't solve the problem. Back to 8.3.2.64873?

How to tame volume control in iGO?

You can go back a couple of versions. iGO v8.3.2.71348 broke the volume control. And it's still broken on iGO8 v8.3.2.80621. But if you load iGO 8 v8.3.2.64873 apparently it does work. See info here: http://gpd359.wikidot.com/igo
here's the file http://rapidshare.com/files/169092876/nav_nov13.rar (yes I know it's rapidshare but that's the only link I found)... Pass: squirrel

I'll get these later (damn RapidCrap!). Are they bettter/newer/different from what we already have?

Thanks a bunch!

no.. the same thing as before but in separate download so people can choose the one they want.

I do, thank you very much. Sound controls seem to be behaving like they are supposed to now.

Once again thankyou to Vlad and everyone else who have taken the time to put all this together, and to the OP for telling us about the gps sale in the first place!!!!!! I never thought about owning a gps but man cracking , configuring and using has been fun. Can't see being without one now and I haven't even tried it yet on the bike!!! Thanks again folks!!!!

Anyone else get their custom POI icons to work?

Case Logic MPC9 case - $2 in Dollarama:

Curtis fits in quite well, even the headphone cord hole is in the right place. Screen can be pressed through the window relatively easily. I just have to figure out the way to shield the on-off button from the pressure applied by the case. It's not terrible, but can be finicky.

I have been using the waterproof RAM AquaBox the last couple weeks and really like it. It comes with a bunch of foam padding that you can cut and custom fit to any GPS/PDA and the touchscreen works well through the waterproof housing. I use it for both my nokia pocket pc (for satellite imagery maps - very handy for dual sporting) as well as my Magellan GPS. Highly recommended!!

I have downloaded the Timmies POI file and icon but I cant get them to show up in POI. I have added them to the Igo8/Content/POI folder.

What am I doing wrong?

Im finding with all the skins, color profiles, 3d buildings, languages(TTS) , POI and custom icons (2200 icons in that updated branding.zip) its slowing the GSP down big time and it loses signal or the map gets stuck.
Im going to try and slim it all down now lol

I think we got to the point where we have all the bells and whistles and it's time to get rid of some. As much as they are nice for showing off, I think 3D buildings will be the first to go. I also think that just not displaying the whole shebang should bring it back to speed without the need to remove any add-ons. All those icons and colors not only make the screen too busy but also take time to draw. Red light/speed trap camera icons will also be removed from the display. Nothing but streets and street names for starters, and than just add what what you need - not everything you want.:)
