A petite rant

I've been "motorcycle" insured since 1975 and have been 100% accident free since 1976 (too much front brake while pulling into a gas station).

I've been insured with Rider's Plus and Echelon for as long as I can remember and I always stick with an insurance company till they go nuts.

Same coverage every year. $2M liability for a 2016 BMW R1200 GS Adventure that is stock. All the below with Echelon.
2017: $791
2018: $782
2019: $819
2020: $898
2021: $834
2022: $834
2023: $826
2024: $976
2025: $1279 a 31% increase and I am not paying for the wildfires in Los Angeles. Not happening!
2025: $788 now with another major company.

Funny thing is, my sports car that I bought used ran me 6.6 times as much as the above motorcycle that I bought new and full coverage on it is $1074. Go figure!

But I get it and it has to do with "risk" and Accident Benefits is the major part, I just do not see the point to getting Accident Benefits for every vehicle that you own. Accident Benefits should be tied to your Driver's Licence for the highest risk vehicle that you own. Now if you cannot keep those two small patches of rubber on the ground, time to find another hobby.

When I first moved to Ontario I noticed how terrible the driving was and came to the conclusion of "foreign drivers", not the way people may think.

Well until you drive in other countries, you have no idea how bad Canadian drivers are and even those that were born here. You know, the left lane dreamers.

I spent 27 summer vacations using the German Autobahn to get me to the Alps to ride. Autobahns between cities are two to three lanes wide.

And you will not find a car in the left lane unless they are passing or if the lane is totally clear ahead of them. A couple of decades ago, I noted a lot of problems with drivers from the eastern block countries but less now.

And as so many think it is exciting, it is boring. I do 120 kph with the truckers in the right lane and will blip to 140 kph when passing. The faster you go, the faster your tire wears per unit kilometer and the last thing I need in the twisties of the Alps is a "squared-off" tire.

Yet the rest of us get rapped for data. I called around for a new bus insurance, and a lot of the questions didn't even pertain to what I needed. I tried avoid whatever I could but all the brokers said was they cannot get a quote without the info. It would be really helpful if there was some consumer agency or gov agency that outlines what is exactly necessary to get these quote without give up all your personal info.
I was going to get a Costco Mastercard but stopped when I saw the invasive questions. If they had a data breach, whoever did it would know more about me than my wife and mother combined. I'm not sure if it's to better target people with offers or if they're selling the info.

I wonder what is going to happen when the stock market gets factored in.

That $2390 premium isn't left sitting on a shelf; it's invested for income and used to keep the rates down. When investments tank the insurers raise rates to meet dividend needs.

Payouts from major disasters get spread out over the flock because those massive amounts can never be recouped from the actual victims.

I wonder if I can get a discount if I promise to never drive through Brampton. I seriously think about bypassing it whenever I can.

Taking about stock markets, I have a couple of friends that are whining about the stock markets they are in and the money they lost. Well you only lose money if you sell...duhhhh.

Of corse they are blaming it all on Trump. Now I am not in stocks and therefore do not follow them hourly, but I am sure the last time the stocks took a hit was during Covid-19 BS and I wonder who they blamed on that; Biden or China back then.

Hardly which is why I have no use for people with double stanards.

Oh and by the way, Apple stocks were far lower a year ago than they are now. So who do we blame back then?

Trump was president when covid hit.
A lot of people say they lost money.. when they really mean they lost value.
Some times selling at a loss is the right move.

And if you bought more or had DRIP/DPP during the dip, you have more shares than you started with. That immediately increases dividend income more than it would have a few months ago (which is still phantom money if you are doing DRIP/DPP).

Don't rent anything from Uhaul. I did that recently and what a effin joke. So much info, and personal data, plus they don't want to print anything out, they expect an email, and for you to email from your phone while you are renting equipment, send contract, etc. Then use your phone to inspect the equipment and take photos. I kept trying to refuse but again the person at the computer said they could not proceed without it. Should have went to Home depot, at least it they haven't gotten to this level yet.

Not when Covid-19 hit full force. Anyway, what did Trump have to do with something generated in China.

Look at how much money Trudeau made due to Covid and the fake hysteria generated by it. Oh, did we forget that? I was looking at stats (annual flu and pneumonia deaths in Canada vs Covid deaths) during it.

He was President for the first year of it.. I didn't say he had anything to do with anything.. just that he was President when it hit.. not Biden.
I don't know anything about Trudeau making money from covid.. I'm pretty sure he made a lot of money off the legalization of weed though.

It seems every day there's another company or organization wanting us to relieve them of hiring a person to interact with us.

"We apologize for the delay as our staff is experiencing a large volume of calls." NO, YOU ARE UNDERSTAFFED. The solution is for the company to hire more people but that would cost them money. Instead, they waste our time on hold. To them our time is inconsequential.

Robotic tech support and you have a question to which it hasn't been programmed.

It goes on forever.

That is because you watch CBC. CBC and facts cannot be used in the same sentence. LOL

Oh and talking about CBC and facts, watching CBC Marketplace is a hoot. You know if you are going to do an investigative report, learn something first. Much like armchair experts that occupy space.

Had that issue with the CRA over the few days I called them. Push this button, push that button and after all that "Call us again later". I gave up and the info I was looking for is not in my CRA account.

That is what happens when you have Public Servants working from home doing the laundry, getting groceries or walking the dog during working hours.

No I don't. I thought you'd post something for me to learn something about it from.. but instead..You try to take a shot at me by saying I watch CBC... and then go on to talk about watching CBC yourself.
