You don't, you stay home and watch your own country slowing follow suit...

Whatever crap we have to deal with is peanuts compared to these countries.

Work as a journalist and dare to publish a critical story about a cartel? Death sentence.
Work in law enforcement and refuse to take pay offs or insist on doing your job? Have to wear a balaclava and worry about your family being targeted,
etc etc.

We have it good.

I guess Ecuador is off the list for a bit.

I know things have been a bit iffy in several Latin/South American countries for a while but it seems like they are getting worse, not better.

How do you solve the cartel problems in these places when they are so entrenched in society?
A cousin was going to retire there and even bought a condo. She sold it years ago and moved to B.C.

The fix is to train and arm the illegal immigrants and send them back to their hell holes. Canada is on the same path due to lack of critical thinking being pushed.

You don’t solve it because you can’t.

If you want to go to countries troubled by cartels you accept the risk and do your best to stay out of trouble.

But solving it…eliminating it…no.

Comparatively, yes. However we are going downhill in lack of awareness.

Our PM selects the RCMP commissionaire, and therefore has a lot of control over federal law enforcement.

Our CRTC controls our media. The CRTC directors are chosen by cabinet ministers that are chosen by the PM.

Hitler was elected in 1933 and by 1934 had used various methods, including the media, to become dictator.

I have no issue with Mexico , we go , enjoy ourselves and stay out of bars after 8pm unless it’s at the hotel I’m staying at.
Same in Guatemala or Panama , we like it , stay out of trouble and don’t go looking for it. I learned 40yrs ago in Venezuela , in places where life is cheap , don’t think being a wht Canadian is of any benefit. .

Definitely but..I’ve been to every country there aside from Belize and aside from some tourist spots they have similar issues which seem to get worse the closer they are to Mexico. I have to say though that despite the issues tourists are quite unlikely to see some of the big problems but that statement isn’t as assured as it used to be. Violence is spilling over.

I did get chased by a gang in Honduras though. Everywhere else has been relatively fine.

Every country has some issues.

for example in canada you can get your bank account frozen for protesting, or get an rcmp visit for tweeting the wrong thing.

Maybe you questioned your government and got labeled a racist

If you have a nice car in the GTA, good chance it will be stolen 🤷‍♂️

Never said we didn't. but "good" for how long? is a honest question we should all be asking.

I don't want to have anything to do with other countries problems. I don't want to work as a journalist or law enforcement.
I have enough to keep me busy with my own 1st world problems.
