I have a question regarding ROW. At an intersection there's thru traffic flowing east west with stop signs for the north south traffic. I approach from the south and want to turn west ( left turn) .There is a line up of 3 cars from the north stopped and all three want head south directly thru the intersection (no turn). My understanding is just like at a traffic light, because I'm crossing lanes of traffic I yeild ROW to all three cars going straight thru.
Quite often the second car (headed straight thru) decides it should be treated as a 4 way stop and tries to wave me thru. I always wait for them to finally go (while people behind me often honk).
Am I correct? (I wanna say that's what I was taught but that was over 40 years ago) My quick google search was a little ambiguous.
