Windsurfing Trailer Behind Motorcycle? (KLR)

Sidecar sounds a lot safer for carrying a surf board to me. still dangerous as all hell, but at least the wind might not carry you away.

This is the coolest solution but also probably the most expensive (unless you get lucky with the wheelchair sidecar that JF posted). It also should help with your parking issue. It is hard for the condo to argue that the bike sidecar is not allowed in your parking spot. Considering the commercial sidecars linked don't have brakes I would assume that it is not required (although it may be a good idea if you were putting a lot of weight in the car).
 
so two things
the bicycle trailer setup in the picture is just a modified kid trailer that somebody put a white PVC rack on, tongue looks like a piece of aluminum electrical conduit. You could make the tongue detachable with clevis pins so it store well. Get a canadian tire small steel toolbox, bolt it to the trailer and lock your wallet in that (mostly just take whatever debit/CC card you need so when it does get lifted you dont loose everything.

The sidecar platform thing was used in the UK and Europe for decades for cheap city deliveries , if you get serious about that a place in Acton , Ont . OldVintageCranks are the gurus of sidecar in Ontario. They can steer you the right direction. Sidecar is not required to have brakes, most new ones will but for 100yrs not so much

Option 3 , move west to Oakville , I'll set you up at an decent yacht club. Store your surfer and come crew on my race boat, I need help. I own a DN iceboat, two days a year in a good year can it be used. But you can do 50mph in pretty small breeze so worth the wait.

Ok, I change my vote from sidecar being the coolest solution. Go with option 3 maks.

You have a keelboat in oakville? Would love to crew on it :D. Just need to get out west more often. My work hours are annoying for evening racing (I work 11-7...)

I'd totally move there if I could find affordable rent with a garage. Then I could get a car and forget about trying to have a creative solution with a bicycle or motorcycle haha. With rona I don't have much reason to be living downtown these days.

Appreciate the honesty ?. Thought maybe rent there was better than downtown TO. Been window shopping online for some houses with garages... A slight job upgrade and I can be there soon... maybe...

Re racing: I will reconnect for next spring! Going to be windsurfing the rest of this month anytime theres a hint of wind. Going to have to figure out a balance between work/life/moto/sailing... yikes... GF better get on a moto soon or she won't be seeing much of me lol.
 
Also, realized that designing a sidecar is kind of the only reasonable way to go. Just need to figure out how to design one on the cheap-ish side... Can't be spending thousands of dollars on it really...

Seems the way to go in the city is brakeless, but still with suspension obviously. Then I just have to figure out mounting points on the bike and how to align the third wheel... and weld it all together...

I would definitely talk to the wheelchair sidecar guy. If you can make that work you are already 80% there. Hell, you could flat load everything on the top of that and use it as is (once you solved mounting).

I'm not sure it would make much difference the first time each driver did it. There wouldn't be a second time though so over time, you will improve driving in TO.
 
I've read a lot about sidecars, from what I understand there is more to it with geometry and toe in ect. to get a car to track and not pull/push the motorbike. Its probably something you would notice more at speed so perhaps around town a homebuild would be ok. Maybe contact the Ontario sidecar racing club? somebody probably has a frame and wheel sitting around?

I have a deep love of sidecar rigs and an F150, if you find some parts dont be afraid to ask for some transport to get them home or help in an assembly. I also have friends with welders. The GTAM built by committee sidecar project, what could go astray ??
