The last thing we need - A "Smart" windshield

The march of technology and society moves on. I think this is pretty neat, and a different implementation of the HUD-Helmet. Are you equally troubled by RAM-mounts? A company like that has a sole purpose to mount GPS and cellular phones to stare at - eyes off the road. I'm all for smart ways to enable us to safely operate devices that are simply NOT going away.

What I don't like is all the technology going into vehicles that aim to 'band-aid' a glaring deficiency in the education/licensing system. Rather than properly learn to drive a car, it seems we're more keen to have technology do it - lane departure warning; blind spot warnings; adaptive cruise control; etc..

But then again, marching forward, the auto-piloted car is not futuristic idea.

Anything that takes a riders eyes off the road is dangerous. I only see this increasing accidents for bikers

"Anything" is grossly over-stated. We know the cellular phone is not going anywhere, and it pretty well is tied to everyone's hip. In our culture it is (near as can be) an essential item. It looks like this Samsung screen can keep you connected while on the bike. Auto-replying to txt-msgs; enabling Blue-tooth calls through communication devices; allowing you to utilize the GPS function of your phone, etc.. Pretty neat.

I can see how it's easy to think a device like this would cause accidents, but I'd wager this won't be the case. I wager motorcyclists continue to crash for the same ole' reasons (please don't make me list them), and not because they were checking on their up-coming turn or having a phone conversation.

As presented, maybe a little too busy. I could see this working if it were implemented like GM or BMW does their HUDs - first, simplify & duplicate the info from the main gauges, so you don't have to lower your eyes just to check your speed. Then if you want to display nav or calling info (or the time, whatever) then you can simplify that too.

I like the idea. People are going to use their phones while riding no matter what. Might as well make it a better and safer experience. Like giving out condoms in school.

Last line of video "more safety on two wheels"
Actual bike in video has 3 wheels. Just sayin.
Doesn't look too bad imo, just the right amount of info given. However, can't you just use Bluetooth to earphones and text to voice?

It just shows info. No input from the ride, so all hands on the steering at all times

LOL, hope that doesn't happen to anyone!

I agree that mobile phones aren't going away, but we haven't learned how to multitask with them well when it comes to driving. If my phone starts going off like crazy in my pocket, I'll pull over to check what's up.

Mom's dying. In the hospital. Plz call. ZZZEERRROOO FAWKS!!!!! LOLOL!

I'm going to pull over as well, but I've never been able to tell when in my iPhone 4 is ringing in my pocket. Ye olde Ericsson T610 worked a lot better for that.

That has got to be the absolute stupidest reason for being on a phone while driving.

Mind if I use it?

"Sorry, but I have to be on the cell. My mom might die!'

I'd only buy it if this will stream 4k porn!

Can't see this being a good idea, very slippery slope to your concentration drifting from the road to your phone.

When on the bike I don't even like taking my eyes off the road to adjust the radio on my fairing, and on the few times I've used it so far, to look at my GPS.

I prefer yelling at Siri through my bluetooth thingie while my phone is in my pocket, but I don't necessarily hate the idea. People are gonna fudge with their electronics no matter what.

I rarely listen to the radio and the GPS gives me audio through the headset. Thin edge of the wedge for distraction.

I'm the first person to admit I'm a phone addict, but when it comes to riding I'm trying very hard to minimize it...not only because I want to be able to drift away from technology and everything and just enjoy the ride when I'm out there, but because the temptation to have my head drift inward instead of outward where it should be is far too tempting for me.

As was mentioned by someone else, if I feel my phone vibrating nonstop in my pocket in such a fashion that it might suggest someone is desperately trying to get ahold of me, potentially because of an emergency, I'll find somewhere to stop and then pull out the phone to respond. If it turns out to be the typical "emergency" where one or both of of my teens are losing their mind because the internet went down for 90 seconds (;)) I'll be glad I wasn't distracted on the bike trying to read the 150 text messages inside a 60 second period - that sort of crap can wait. ;)

LOLWUT?!? Umm, your reply makes little sense to the context of the thread and the Samsung device being talked about. I am pretty sure you misunderstood.

I am merely suggesting one would give a lot of fawks IF a family member WAS trying to reach you for something urgent like a mother is in the hospital. Ergo.. it WOULD be nice to SEE WHO is calling, or have the ability to answer the phone while on the go. Others have pointed out the good idea that if your phone starts blowing up in your pocket you could also pull over to inquire.
