Grabbing a new helmet.

I think it's about that time of year for a change over. (I remember my instructors from way back when mentioning to change your helmet ever 5 years I've had my current one for 7 now).

Any good deals out there? Currently rocking a SHOEI multi-tec.

I really like the modular helmets (the ones where you can lift the chin bar and convert it to an open face), that way you can have a drink or something. But I've heard about the smart helmet 'SKULLY' AR-1. Are they in production yet? That's something I might be interested in buying.

I've heard good things about ARAI as well.

Anyone here every bought anything from UDReplica's? How's the quality of their products?

get a proper helmet not some superhero replica garbage. Schuberth C3's are being cleared out right now since the C3 Pro's have come out. They're in the $600 range which is A LOT less than what Schuberths usually go for. Shoei Neotec is the Multitec replacement and is a good improvement. Arai is also up there amongst the best but they don't make any modulars.

I just picked up another Shoei RF-1200 myself, I really liked the graphics its a race replica not some dumb UD one. I just got one last year so I didn't really need one but I'm a gear whore and Shoei fan, got 4 now.

I just picked up an HJC RPHA 10 for a great price at GP.

Arai corsair v (black frost) and Arai vector 2 (thrill). both great helmets would definitely recommend! Picked up both from gp bikes, amazing guys to deal with!

On my second Bell Star helmet (1st one gone in accident) added the Transitions Visor (tint in sun, clear at night)
comfortable and low on wind noise. Many sexy to choose from

Ever brand mentioned so far are good choices. The only thing that really matters is that it fits properly. I love Arai's but they don't fit my head shape.

Same Here, but I really love my Shoei!

Have you tried all of their models? They don't all fit the same unlike most other manufacturers.

Tried every Arai model they had at Rider's Choice when shopping for a replacement, for some reason they all smash the crown of my forehead. Shoei's the brand I've been wearing since I've started riding.

I'm exactly the same. There's something about any arai I've ever tried but not one fits properly. I've always had shoes helmets and find them comfortable so I just stick with them.

I might be selling a Shoei GT Air cog in med. probably around $650. I should have it coming in the mail wednesday ish. totally changed my mind.

Me too exactly! Tried them all and none of them fit my noggin as well as a Shoei does. So, I got a Shoei.

Just picked up an RPHA10 as my daily to replace my older RF1100. Saving up for an Arai RX-Q for special rides.

In my experience arai fit a wider rounder head, shoei fit a narrower oval head. No matter how much of a fanboi you are of a particular brand if it doesn't fit correctly it doesn't protect better than a less expensive brand that does fit. Another thing to consider is weight. I have seen someone's 1000$ helmet weigh more than another persons $300 helmet and both conform to the same standards.
When it comes to helmets you need to look at fit, weight and standards. No point n buying a helmet if it doesn't meet all 3 plus the features you want such as built in sunglasses, etc. buying a helmet that doesn't fit because it has Bluetooth or hud or modular or some feature that you can add on (granted you can't add modular) seems like you're not using the organ you're trying to protect.

Those that are experiencing forehead crush with the Arai should try the Signet Q. It is their helmet for the long oval head type.

Re: the "forehead crush" referred to above.

I found a persistent kneeding (sp) to those forehead pressure points helped substantially. A slight "customization" to the interior helped me a lot.

We do not have the Same shaped heads, so a uniform lid will rarely fit the bill 100%

I found that the back end of a screw driver worked best. Work it in till It no longer has the pressure point.

if you're deforming the helmet interior you are crushing the the shock absorption in that area which leaves you with nothing to work with if you get hit in that location... they make helmets in a variety of different shapes, you may not get the brand, colour and graphics you want but get one that fits.

Do NOT do this.
