Lets talk about Commuter mods/add ons

If you copy the img link and paste it here, it shows the pictures and is much easier to look at quickly rather then the links.

??

So when you click on the link (as I posted it, withouth the IMG tags) a new window opens and you see the Olay advertising? Interesting. I thought I was posting the direct URL - so only the photo would show in a new window.

Edit: Or did it happen because you were already logged on to Photobucket?

I've read varying reviews on the X-Grip with many having their device fly out and onto the ground on a good enough bump. Your thoughts?

I've been using the x-grip on a stem mount since last June to hold my S4 (in a Otter Box case) and I've had zero issues with it. Hold's it perfectly secure. I'd guess I've ridden with it for about 8k total.

Although now that I think about it, the rubbery otter box case most likely helps. Depends on the device i guess.

I was simply showing you where in photobucket you see the img link to copy.

My top three things...

-stebel horn
-hard top case (big enough to hold laptop and then helmet once I get to work)
-heated grips

I wouldn't commute with a kryptonite chain..those things are damn heavy. I have a xena disc lock with alarm, I rarely use it. I have a scorpio alarm with prox and its much easier...sets itself when I leave the bike and disarms when I put the key in or come near.

Nobody really likes riding with backpacks eh? I just got a Kriega one, it looks very promising!
I have a tail bag but I have to jerry-rig it very poorly...do you really need a passenger seat for tail bags to work nicely? I have a solo cowl and it slips around (usually pushing towards me at least). Believe it or not, a Cup holder isn't bad to have if you commute...I go out to grab lunch and sometimes it'd be nice to bring a drink back.

I find it more unappealing visually than a tank bag or case, that's just me.

Scorpio doesn't deter someone from stealing it does it? it just tracks the bike if it is? What model do you have?

for tank bags I like the quick connect bags. They cost a lot more, but they never touch the bike so never ever have to worry about scratches. I used to have a regular magnetic tank bag on my old CB919, no matter how careful I was I ended up with scratches. The quick connect goes on and off with ease and is very secure. There are a variety of different bags from small to large.

Agreed, and in that order of importance. The Stebel has saved my bacon on numerous occasions.

what kind of sauce do you prefer with those chicken strips ?
Where?

I understand, you ride a 250 cruiser so you have never seen a tire properly used, no worries, we will let it go this time :)

If those are chicken strips, my bike is sporting the whole damn chicken! Lol

Waterproof stuff is good when its raining, but unless its really good gear, I find waterproof jackets and boots do not breath very well on the hot days.

I have a custom made intake tornado, they really work!
Is that one of those things that supposedly gives you more hp? If so, I think you are mistaken, many reports and tests prove they do absolutely nothing save get money out of your wallet.

I have this for the back seat, small enough to not be bulky but big enough to carry miscellaneous items I need like a sweater or a rain suit (tight) and when empty even a medium 2x2. I hate tank bags so this is perfect

OK, I bite... where did you find these? I did some searching around, and didn't find online places to find them... somewhere local have them? Or something similar?

Have you considered a large windshield?
Some people hate the idea because it changes the looks of the bike, especially when it is a naked bike.
But going from no windshield to a large windshield makes an actual difference for light touring....

My 650R was actually better with no windshield compared to the fairly large stock windshield. Stock windshield blasted all the air right at your head, which is fairly annoying.

I considered modding ABS onto the bike because it wasn't available here at the time for rain commuting. I'm sure there'll be lots of debate on here as to whether that would've been worthwhile. Still have the pump (from a Euro model) sitting here since I never got around to it and sold the bike. If anyone wants it, shoot me a PM.
