Too many questions.. good luck.. this bike will sell

How hard is that, pathetic seller ... keep the bike thanks.

The seller has likely had a dozen people from the toronto area no show on him so this is how he reacts.

Selling on Kijiji is painful.

Just out of curiosity!

What method of payment do you guys prefer when selling/buying a bike through private sales (such as Kijiji, craigslist, etc...)?

Are you guys worry the seller may use counterfeit money? I am thinking about selling my bike and I am wondering what other precautions I should take.

(Sorry to hijack friend!)

Bank Draft, email transfer, cash. In that order.

Unless you are a Nigerian prince; in that case we can discuss inheritance sums.

TBH a lot of people asking about the bikes are kids who don't even have a license as my old 240sx ad I'd get messages from people like "yeah, my dad is going to give me money to buy my first car as soon as I turn 16 next year" or tell you they want to meet up then never show but I guess that's what you get for using a free channel of distribution.

I kid you not, sold my last 600cc to someone who paid for it with his OSAP money...

OP, seller is a dick plain and simple. Reply, point him to this thread then move on. Good hunting

Sometimes, but it's what we have and really, the exposure to market is pretty incredible considering it essentially cost ZERO!

I wish you had to pay for kijiji, it would get rid of the dummies

He's probably expecting a quick sale, and can't be bothered to answer your questions embedded in paragraphs. Honestly you don't have to tell the seller your situation, it's kinda dumb to do so. Just ask your questions in the simplest way.

Do you have UVIP, where was it purchased and any other pictures?

One simple sentence replaces the whole paragraph of yours.

From what side? I've paid for top ad placements and it brought in even more idiot responses. Maybe if one had to pay to respond to an ad, but that would go against the whole spirit of Kijiji. I should have saved some of the replies when I was selling my boat. Talk about losing hope for humanity.

Out of curiosity, a question to the OP: if you are in Durham, would you go all the way to London for a bike?

I would expect you could find one closer to home... are they really that scarce?

Atleast from one side.

I hear you on selling stuff, been through it myself plenty of times. Luckily you can filter out most of these idiots with just an email...

That's what the seller did in this case. Maybe to his detriment. But the buyer started a thread on a motorcycle forum because he was treated rudely. Where there's smoke..........

Hmm? I wonder if the kid signed up for OSAP then got his parents to front the money for his semesters and pocketed the government funds. Most of the people I go to college with aren't even claiming their taxes on their T4 until they get a full time job to put against their tax on income earned but if its his parents claiming it, shouldn't be too hard for the CRA to catch it.

He seemed like a nice kid, just had his priorities in different order than I would imagine someone his age should. Since i'm neither his parent nor a close friend, I didn't spew any advice. However as far as he mentioned to me, he was going to pay for the first semester of college and use the rest of the money towards the bike and worry about the second semester fees as they came due.

I would gamble that he didn't bother with insurance, but that's my guess.

I digress...

To answer this question, I would drive to London. The distance to find a good working vehicle is worth it, in my opinion. Jayv had his cbr250 for sale but was sold very quickly. Due to good price and good shape.

I would make it a nice trip and a few of the guys in my family who ride a motorcycle would want to come for the ride.

I bought my bike in November with my OSAP money. They sent me $3000 more than I needed for tuition. Usually I spend any excess on partying...so IMO buying a bike was a good choice. :headbang:

As someone who had to pay his way through university earning $12 an hour part-time (after being rejected for OSAP) - I loathe you.
(my car was a ****-box too... couldn't dream of owning a bike at the time)

Well, not really you per say, but the loathe is strong. :D
