Time for new rubber. Looking for advice on choosing

At the start of the season I was considering the M5s and Z8s. I went with the Z8. I love them. Best tires I ever owned. First trip I took them on was early in the spring up north. It rained or drizzled the whole day. The was sand on the road. After a few hours my confidence was high enough to lean them quite far while following the thin tire track where there wasn't sand. I couldn't believe how well they behaved.

On dry roads they are more than I need. Their claim that the tires dampen the ride is true.

The M5 should be superior to the Z8 in every way except thread life. For how well the M5s and Z8s grips the mileage reports are astounding.

Pirellis seem to have a following here. Give the M5s a shot, they wont dissapoint.

If you're referring to the Metzeler M5, then be aware that Pirelli owns Metzeler. They both make great tires, they even have the same tire profile. Similar cast if you ask me

Hmmm the Pirelli Angels and Z8's have very similar reviews.

Metzler "Interact™ Technology. Five zone tension: the new tension layout ensures the best balance between mileage, high grip for sporty riding road riding and precision at maximum lean." Pirelli doesn't mention anything like that.

I'm not saying they're identical

Had Michelin Pilot Road 3's and they were amazing in the rain. I'm actually itching to try new Pilot Power 3's.

Dunlop roadsmart 2's.
Can't love these tires enough.

I just put those on my Speed3

I normally would say "Michelin" to any tire related question but the Dunlop's have been great so far. Good rain traction and stable through the corners when I push it.
The Michelin PP series, though, is my favorite but I don't want to go through 2+ sets of tires a year since they only last about 6-7k for me and am hoping the Dunlops will make it to 15-20k.

I personally dislike Metzeler/Pirelli tires. I never found they could grip in the rain worth crap. I used to be able to spin up the rear far too easily on a wet road on my Honda (e.g. when rolling on the throttle on the highway I could break lose the tire)

I've decided to go with pilot power 3's. Too many good reviews and from talking to a couple people in shops they all say the same thing. Should have it all done by next weekend so I guess I'll see then how they are.

Thanks for all the replies folks. Nice to have a thread with some actual helpful info for once instead of "my aprillia is better than anything you ride"

Heres a gtam post: My F2 with Z8s is faster in rain than the S1000RR on pirellis. Pirellis blow up all the time. Worst tires ever.
