Acceptable price for a sports bike and differences between them?

Wouldn't it be easier to just do some research as to the little differences between the bikes, rather then asking to be spoon fed? You'd think someone actually interested in the hobby would enjoy reading the plethora of magazine reviews that you can find online for free about every SS bike usually on their own, and in a shoot out.

Come back when you have some actual questions.

Well tell you the truth, for me this whole discussion is part of the buying experience. It's exciting buying your first superbike. It's fun to talk about and it's fun to discuss it to death. Then again maybe it's just me....
But buying a SS is a big decision and I can see the OP wanting all opinions and angels so as to not make a decision and miss something that he didn't think of but bothers him a lot....

LOL @ the stiff prices you guys paid for your bikes, I got mine for $3,000 flat in mint condition, a 750cc sport-tourer that looks like a supersports basically, and goes as fast if you give it 3 extra seconds.

Word on the board is your bike is a pile of ****. Keep your luls to yourself because if you could afford it you would be riding a supersport as well.

But his bike even looks like a supersport lol

How many times do I have to say it? Discussions are great, asking to be spoon fed and doing absolutely no research is pathetic especially given the amount of free information right at your finger tips. I could tell you lots of differences between model years, most of which comes from reading shoot outs. Believe it or not most of those people writing magazine reviews tend to know a fair bit about riding. I know, shocking.

What's to say I haven't been reading the shootouts on motorcycle-usa.com and Googling since I got my GS500F last year? You know what the difference between Google.ca and these boards are? One is static, and one is live. Also "professional reviews" are sometimes paid for (no idea if that applies to the motorcycle).

Where in the thread did I exactly ask to be spoon fed? I've been staring at the sport bike market on kijiji for quite a while (2011) and know of the general price range and drops that occur.

Man, I can't tell if people like you are just blunt or butthurt for no reason -_-

But at the ppl who actually replied with their own experiences, thank you.

EDIT: Btw, lemme elaborate on your attitude problems. I know of at least 3 riders that I met that used to come onto GTAM. They specifically told me they left because of people like you who don't answer questions, assume they haven't done a bit of reading, and then unload a **** ton of hate for no good reason. One of them pulled off his Ninja 250 fairings, repainted them, lowered his bike, and actually did that for my gf's bike recently, yet he was told he was a ****ing idiot that needed to do research on these boards for asking questions about his fairings.

My gf is currently using an ambiguous nickname so she doesn't get harassed by the male dominated rider scene and she's VERY careful about asking questions and asks me first, even regarding her 250 because she doesn't wanna deal with people like you on this board.

I've strayed far off topic but this is ridiculous. We've got lane split, speeding, and other threads regarding controversial issues that state we need to ride more respectfully to not piss off cagers, how about people like you start by not pissing off fellow riders for asking simple questions.

See? Legit opinion..heard it before..that's a good discussion point...carry on! :-)

Heard it before as well actually. To be honest I wouldn't mind a Daytona 675. Ducatis and BMWs are out of the question (no $$$). Finding a used 675 for the price of a cheap Japanese bike is kinda...hard tho.

Now for the harder question, what exactly defines the difference between the following bikes:

I understand the obvious differences between the 600 and 1000s, but what makes each brand unique and why did you get yours?

Umm you mean all that? Cry me a river, you've clearly done no research if you don't have so much as a starting point. The shoot outs on average aren't biased at all and they slam bikes all the time. Funny I stopped coming to gtam for a while because it was so filled with people like you asking to be spoon fed, even when there is SO much information out there. You want to know what the differences are? What do you think a shoot out is?

Put a tiny bit of effort in and you'd be amazed how much more you get out of a discussion

If it bothers you so much why even reply?

I wouldn't ride your bike if it were given to me as a present. I would however donate it to be the pinate at a bike rodeo.

All bikes have soul. Anybody who says otherwise has no soul.... :)

Sturgess gave me a great price on a new 2011 Daytona 675 but it was still coming out to be too expensive for me and the insurance was way too much over a CBR600. Plus I hear the parts and maintenance on the Daytona is a lot higher too. So all in all the Japanese bike was a better deal for me.

Hey 油井緋色, we met at Suzuki demo in Barrie - I was on blue FZ6. GP Bikes is doing one more Triumph demo - they have red 675 to try, July 25 to 27.

We all know you mastered bike riding and axle sticks greasing. Just FYI - you bike does not need extra 3 seconds, all it needs is proper rider. It will do 0 to 60 mph in 3.9 sec

I read all kinds of magazines and enjoy shoot out comparisons. I also enjoy reading about different bikes through forums and Internet articles. If I'm interested in a particular bike a visit to its respective forum is pretty informative. Common problems, upgrades and maintenance issues are usually explained at length. I know owners can be biased, but surprisingly I find most are generally honest about their bikes.

I also don't consider asking people's general opinion about a variety of bikes as being "spoon fed." Isn't this what bike forums are all about? As great as magazine reviews are I also put a lot of value into reading the reviews and experiences of the average joe owner. Many time the average joes among us can shed light on real world experiences that a magazine doesn't always have ether the room for, or particular focus. Regardless, asking people questions and having discussion Id all part of the buying process.

Like Rodney said, "Can't we all just get along?"

What is an actual reasonable price? Perfect cosmetic condition, no mods, less than 24,000 km? Also, is it really that bad of an idea to buy a street legal bike that has been tracked with?

"Reasonable price" in general or for our region? Two completely different answers. Bike prices around the GTA are way high, hold out for a deal.

Personally, I see absolutely nothing wrong with buying a bike that's been tracked. There could be things slightly wrong with a street ridden bike that you wouldn't even notice, but when you're riding 200+ on the track, these little issues become visible. As a result, in a lot of ways bikes that are tracked are more tediously cared for.

I'll look into that but I'm quite skeptical about buying one. Did some digging and found out the costs for parts were horrible.

I'm starting to really lean towards the GSXR750...that bike was really fun lol, too bad we had no where to open the throttle.
