I Hate Digital Speedometers, They Are Retarded

Too bad almost all newer bikes come with that crappy and fugly black-lettering speedometer, who started this silliness? There's nothing more girlish than seeing an R6 or R1 with those tiny black numbers showing the speed, lol!

One of the reasons why I did not buy a new bike was because of this reason and the other reason was the ridiculous trend of two headlights with only one "on". This is why I bought a bike (used) that has only one sporty headlight and a big, clear analog speedometer/rpm combo.

You do realize, the reason why one shuts off in low beam is for safety right?
At night you have very little depth perception. Seeing dual head lights, an on coming car will assume it's another oncoming car that is still very far off, and not a bike in close proximity.
Also, I would have figured that with your awesome mechanical skills, you would have figured out how simple it is to wire both sides to stay on while in low beam.

Oh.... your FZ6 dream bike has a fully digital dash in the 1st gens and in the 2nd gens, it's digital speedo with analog tach, and it does the "gay" headlight thing.

I bet he tried connecting juice to one of the metal prongs that sticks out of the glowing orb by plugging it to the electricity machine, but it made a popping sound with smoke so he gave up.

So even before I test rode them I looked at like 1000 pictures and read almost every review out there. And you know what put me off? You guessed it - cluster, old and dated analog speedo/tach combo, just like on OP's bike.

Lol are you listening to yourself? You dare admit that you like those girly digital speedometers over the old school analog ones like mine? Unbelievable, hahaha.

The only way I would prefer a digital speedometer would be if they were bright green or bright blue as ones I have seen on Youtube, but not those pathetic ones that look like my 1980's $10 watch with weak black numbers on a dull-grey background. You are way out to left field buddy.

what is with you calling things girly? you sexist or something? And yes, I'm sure having super bright light glowing on your dash at night will work wonders for actually seeing ahead.

you can adjust the intensity of the back light to your preference.

sounds like someone is trying to find bs excuses to why they bought a turd of a bike.

I bought a bike, not cluster and a headlight. Rip the ****er off or tape it if it bugs you so much. Duct tape is manly right?

Is it snowing in hell? Because I actually agree with you. Here's my low tech dash.

Says the guy that talks about how it takes a year to save 3 thousand bucks to buy a bike.

Yes, of course I am listening. And yes I love my girly setup - just in case you are not up to date, this thread shows that men these days are more feminine: http://www.gtamotorcycle.com/vbforum/showthread.php?160255-Are-men-more-quot-feminine-quot-today

Thank you for pointing this out - I need to drop by drugmart today and get me some mascara and lipstick to go with my girly speedo. You will have to do the same when you buy your dream bike - FZ6 and Gixxer 600 both have girly clusters.

I have to admit that I much prefer an analog tachometer to a digital one. Having said that, the lack of analog gauges wouldn't weigh in on my buying decision.
I am sure that cost and weight, in that order, have caused manufactures to switch to fully digital setups. My last two bikes have full digital dashes. One additional benefit to digital dashes is the ability to display additional information, like lap-times. I would say that hybrid or fully digital displays are here to stay; this trend is also being adopted by car manufactures.

Our local unicorn's threads are like bad accidents - you just can't look away. Keep posting OP, keep posting.

Must...resist...correcting! A unicorn and pegasus are two different imaginary creatures.

Digital tachs are okay if they're large enough, but most of them seem to be those small segmented bars that run along the top of the display. Big numbers so I can look cool, please. I'm going 6000, whoa!

Oh please feel free - Pegassus (the OP) is now all horse-related creatures in one for me. So when I think of unicorns, centaurs, pegassuses I can only think of Peggie now :D

Could it be our dear Peggie???:

That's your problem right there... who cares about the damn speedo? All you really need is a tach. Same idea behind gear indicators, the only gear that matters is first.
