Whopping $2,100/Yr Insurance For Yamaha R6 Kills Deal For Me

Can you please explain this a bit more...When I'm eligible for Statefarm I plan on having a 1000cc, are they still the best and does it mean I can have that bad boy insured for May-September and my current bike which will be the everyday rider for the rest of the year, and only pay a single premium that takes into account both bikes? Does it still cover stuff like fire and theft?

You can't have 2 bikes on 1 policy and just switch them to whatever one you want to ride. You can probably renew and cancel your policies when you wan tto change bikes and pay the premium for which you have used up (18% - July......etc) but you do that too much and don't expect them to let you keep doing that.

you're complaining about 2100 on an R6...and you probably have a legit job.
I'm paying 2000 on a ****ing 250, 4th season clean record...

If your 1000CC bike is on the road for the majority of the riding season (May - Sept) then the majority of your annual premium will be based on the 1000CC bike. You will not save much by having a cheaper bike in the off season.

You're 40 *&^%ing years old? Are you kidding me? I would have pegged you at 25, tops.

There's no excuse for a 40 year old man posting the crap that you do.

Maybe we should have a thread where we guess everyone's age :)

As mentioned, you will not be saving much if you're insuring from May-September since the premiums are weighted depending on which month you insure it..summer months being heavier weight.

To be more specific with the switching between bikes, I can suspend/activate the policy up to 4 times per year IIRC. My CBR600 is on Fire+Theft most of the year until I decide I want to ride it (probably for 2-3 months later in the summer/fall), and my CBR125 is insured all year. The 2-3 Summer months will account for 35-45% of my annual weighted premium, in simple terms thats what I'll be paying for the year for the CBR 600....plus my annual premium for the CBR125

What company lets you do just fire and theft? I have heard that majority of companies won't do that for motorcycles....

State Farm...only if I have 2 bikes with them though, one of them has to have at least liability on it.

Ok, I have heard people ask for just theft and liability with one bike and they said no.

Wow I'll check them out, I'm 40 with a G licence since 1989 and an "M" licence for 2 years, but what might be an issue is that I have 1 speeding ticket from 2010, fell at a radar trap, 12 km over. DUFFY Ins. does not insure R6 motorcycles, they told me they regalated me to some third-party insurance company called "Nordic", I was dumbfounded because I thought I was dealing with them and they never told me they would get a quote from another company until they had already done it. I also do NOT want to move my vehicles to State Farm, unless they give me a lower price which I doubt.

@ JOHNNY5: Sorry but I do not ride if the weather is not at least 25C and sunny, I don't enjoy riding with a sweater and gloves on my hands.

Don't you have any other policies like home/car/life/etc.? Why not find a company that'll insure you for everything, to take advantage of any multi-policy discounts?

I'm 29 and have a car, a house and a motorcycle policy with TD Melloche Monnex. Granted my bike isn't a SS, but I believe they rate by CC only, so it'd be close to the same cost: $1000/yr for the bike, $1500 for the car (fuggin Honda's) and $600 for the house.

My record is no where near clean... accident from 2008 and probably 3 tickets since that time... I think one more ticket and I'm retiring my bike, lol.

I think SF is the only company that rates by cc only. TD rates by style of bike.

Are you freaking joking? I don't believe this for a minute, sorry.
