Riding Mexico

I have a couple friends who rode to Mexico, around it, and back again. They rode their Busas, and towed a single wheeled trailer behind each.
They could give you insight to riding there I am sure, as they both grew up in Mexico.

Heading south has anyone rented a bike in the Mayan rivira ? Where's the best spot? How much should I expect to pay ? Etc. Any input would be helpful

I can only speak to the Cabos area where HD and a few BMW's were available to rent.

Keep in mind that the locals are very discourteous to any bikers. This was attributed to a social class thing I was told when I kept getting bumped at stop lights.

Why would you want to ride in that crime infested cesspool? Is it worth risking your life just for a ride?
Why people go to places like this is beyond me.

From the guy that considers October to be hazardous conditions.

I have many times but only scooters, its fairly safe. Mayan Riviera is basically one straight road, you can probably go to the ruins, Xcaret, its about an hr to Cancun etc. They all charge the same, I think last time was like 60 bucks for a full day.

never looked into real motorcycles, there are no good roads to ride, not worth it.

don't listen to Road Warrior, he melts like sugar on any not fair weather

I was there in Aug and attempted to rent a couple of Harley's for the wife and I. We showed up at the rental place and I was shocked at the condition of the bikes. Taped together, brakes and transmission were questionable etc. needless to say we walked away. The guy also told me all the close call stories. That is when we started running away.

Bring one of those personal gps units with you, that way when Mexican gangsters bury you in the desert, local authorities can find your body and ship you back to Canada.

Don't be stupid, don't go to Mexico if you value your life.

And somebody's been living a pipe dream wealthy society fairytale. Clueless Canadian who thinks the whole world outside of Canada and other safe and rich societies is all flowers, rainbows and birds chirping. Your life in a brutal, corrupt and crime infested place such as Mexico is about as worth as a life of a squirrel up here in Canada, crossing the roadway.

You obviously don't have a clue what your talking about. You make it seem all of Mexico is dangerous. Just like any other country there are the place you shouldn't go and places you can go. Ive traveled to Mexico about half a dozen times and the travel destination where the OP is going is perfectly safe.

There is no such thing as a safe place down there.
There is no such a thing as a safe place in Canada neither. Anything can happen anywhere, I would however feel more safe on playa car or Xcaret than I would feel in Jane and Finch

This is true, but it is simply not debatable when it comes to countries such as Mexico, Canada and Mexico are two completely different worlds/societies. It's like the difference between the Moon and the Sun.

I can bet you that on high season, there are more Canadians than any other culture in Mayan Riviera, can not say the same about Toronto

The sheer scale of crime down there makes anything in Canada or Toronto pale in comparison. When did you last time see the Canadian military coming to Toronto and getting into a shootout with Toronto's police forces? Or how about a bunch of gangsters armed better than local police forces taking over entire prisons and releasing ALL prisoners? Come on man, Toronto? Please, give me a break will you. Entire police forces in certain places in Mexico are 100% corrupted and controlled by the mafia, so much that Mexico has to send in the military to stop the Police forces and clean em up. **** like this doesn't happen in a place like Canada.
Two different worlds man, that's just the way it is, it's a fact of life.

I have a friend who travels Mexico on the bike often.
When she goes, she has 5 sets of Identification.
The "POLICE" will confiscate your I.D. and say they will give it back when you go to the station to get money extorted from you.
If you have extra, "FAKE" I.D. you don't lose too much.

lol you are like those guys that think all of Canada is toronto. Its so funny

Try the same thing at night.
If I was alone at Jane and Finch, I would feel damn right cozy if compared to being alone at Playa Del Carmen.
