The point is, using "food" to fuel fuel guzzling SUV's in North America is kind of in bad taste when you have an entire continent of people in our world that are starving.

By that same logic you are depriving African children of paper they could be learning to write on when you use toilet paper.

Your point might be valid if it weren't for the fact that a good portion of the food and medical supplies that are already sent to Africa sit on runways till the warlords in charge of the airports/terminals figure out who they can sell it to for the most amount of money and/or arms. As it is, the argument you put forth is simplistic, at best.
