Not everyone runs from the cops at every opportunity - although in this case, had the rider in question done just that (and it happens ALL the time!!!) we wouldn't be hearing about it in the news.
Given the Mahoney-Bruer (sp?) situation, the possibility that the charge is trumped-up, or based on an erroneous radar reading, cannot be completely excluded. Mahoney-Bruer was the one who got caught; how many more are there. But, at this point, we can only go by what's stated in the news.
Seriously dude! if you're impying... its one thing to judge this guy "with no real evidense on your part" its another thing to think i might evade cops, for all you know i could be someone affiliated with some sort of law. But you are right if the guy decided to run i don't think he'd be on the news, but then that makes you think dosen't it what does honesty really get you in life, and knowing the world turns by a few things like money and power, whilst everything else is valid if you can afford to have those two. This whole notion of this guy is the devil for speeding and could have killed someone is just proof society has not developed to being able to think rationally over the last thousand years if not longer. the truth is the world like when it was first concieved by man is still the same. Make an example of out the ones who are honest and own up, and the real havoc and killers get away. Not saying that its impossible for him not to hurt someone at those speeds, but we aren't God and we cannot predict what will happen, but we definately were given common sense by the creator to use our brains to think using probability. Compare the everyday accidents and injuries and people killed by regular traffic compared to these kinds of cases. You will see the likly hood of a situation like this actually killing a bystander is almost rare, and in this "perfect" world everything dies! sure the biker could have killed a bystander, but he wouldn't be alive himself either to face the punishment. Imposing such a punisment on this guy is not going to stop the stupid bimbos like the one who killed a 5 year old girl last week who was crossing the pedestrian walk way, while the female driver was distracted with her self and her cell phone and useless garbage in her car! those are the types of real murderes on the street, the ones who take a risk witout "ANY" care for self or public safety, atleast when a guy/girl is pushing it on their toy, they are aware of the risks and are paying all attention and skill to avoid an accident if something does happen, still not right but, you get the point!
Im neither for or against this guy, but trying to state that just it being dangerous or might kill someone is not a good excuse to tarnish someones reputation, and job and life and such, just because they were out trying to have some maganeable risk fun.
Im tired of speed being the sole factor wrthy of punishment on our roads. what about the idiot with a 2 mile long train behind him because hes afraid of 'speed' on the highway. what about the dumb woman who stops on a three lane road because she was supposed to turn left and is in the right lane? what about the arrogant prick whose changing lanes every two seconds to get a car length ahead in traffic?
We need a better system of training and testing drivers, not one which punishes those can can think and react.
That being said, this type of speed is a do at your own risk type of thing.
+1
I've had the opportunity of driving a decomissioned police car BEFORE it was downgraded for civilian use.
I will tell you this, they have a pretty good level of performance, especially in a straight line. Getting beyond 200km/h in today's police cruisers isn't a problem at all.
Also adding on the fact which someone mentioned, not everyone runs when they see flashing lights, no matter how much of a lead they have.
If the police officer clocked him at 177km/h while standing still on the side of the road, it's true that the biker will have a significant lead over the officer by the time he gets his cruiser to the same speed, and then it takes even more time to close that distance by going faster than the clocked speed.
The ultra-bright light bars they have is sometimes enough to get an honest person to pull over knowing that since they are most likely the only motorist on the road, the police is after them; and I'm sure this 47y/o man was well aware of the laws he was breaking.
Okay so let me get this straight you seem to think pushing a police cruiser beyond this guys speed is okay and legal, but he should get an example made out of for a lesser speed on a machine that is built for one purpose and thats to go fast? i mean its either a fact you have personally driven a police cruiser past 200kmh on public roads and broken the law yourself, or you haven't and you're basing your comment on hearsay! which one is it?
And like you state, it will usually take the cop twice the speed and risk to pull over someone they are trying to get speeding, so why does it make sense to do twice as much law breaking to catch the lesser law breaking and have the lesser unlawful act blown out of proportion?
If im not making myself clear, this type of law and thinking is going to bite everyone in the rear one day, and you guys who defend such cases seem to think the law 50 and over was it,mistaken for sure you are, wait till its so difficult that driving will become a terrifying headache for most people or even un affordable knowing they will get another stupid ticket for something that is blown out of the sky.
and for those that defend the law against this guy on the defense that guys like him kill and hurt innocent pedestrians or other drivers, let me just say i have been on the recieving end, and this guy is not my concern, after hearing the same stories for 2 years and still visiting my physiotherapy i can tell you, i have not come across one case where it was an experienced biker or car enthusiats that caused someone his/her life "which makes sense, beyond the fact that mistakes can happen we are not perfect, that anyone who is remotely into cars and bikes has a good handle and experience on not killing or hurting people and causing accidents everyday with having better control of their motorvehicle then the average driver who truely doesn't care" ... most if not all of the fellow injured people i met were hit by.... the sister or daughter or the woman, playing with her cell phone and dog while driving, or cramming their friends, singing dancing eating and talking while driving, the guys/girls who drink and drive like its a normal everyday thing, the arrogant jackasses who seem to think they own everything on the road and can do what ever they like, the blind old people who shouldn't even be driving, they may not have a ticket in the last 30 years because cops propbably pull up beside them ****** then feel sorry for them because they are old, until that old person kills 5 other people by accidently running a red. The truck and trailer drivers, cagers causing road rage everyday and hundreds of cyclists being run over by idiots in pick up trucks and corollas and so on its the "normal drivers" causing people their lives.
The whole concept of people with fast cars and bikes are going to murder innocent people it the bigggest BS i have come to realise after my own near death accident, and you know what i was the one who was hit, who almost lost his life, is stuck with thousands and thousands of dollars in lawyer fees and even lawyers fees to fight my own insurance company not to be cheap and pay for most of my expenses, and even though it was not my fault the person that hit me got off scot free because cops couldn't charge the driver because it was private property, wow, so you guys still think cops give a **** what the victim feels like?
They told my friends at the scene in an annoyed manner "we can't do anything you guys have to sort something out" and when they realised they couldn't charge anyone they left, to a another scene which i personally overherd on their radio while being lifted in the ambulance, that another person or biker was hit close by. My other accident was when i was much younger a friends friend was being a jackass and racing his car through the neighbourhood with his lights off and passengers in his car and i was leaving a house around the bend with one passenger and two girls in the back, while the moron came around the corner at 50-60kmh and hit my car, my car split in half the rear end went to the lawn of the house opposite and front half the other side the other guys car was frontal heavy damage, his passenger was injured, but by a myrical no one in my car was injured because i made everyone wear seat belts all the time, the only person in my car injured was me with my head hitting the drivers window and bleeding. what happened next was this, the kid that hit me his dad was a supervisor cop, and the kid himself was becoming a cop, with already two accidents under his name and several drug charges covered up "i later found out" i knew i was about to get screwed over, basically they tricked me into paying them for damages using my innocent fear of parents and insurance hike then them taking both cars hiding the whole thing ever happening for the time being then callin my insurance and them being cops who do you think they would believe on top of that they mentioned to my insurance i was drunk, placed beer bottles in my car, my car was ticketed, and the friend i though would back me up went against me, i was royally screwed over. I was just lucky i had pee'd in the hospital that night and they took samples, so i wasn't charged with drunk driving. They simply after that shovedthe whole thing under like it never happened but i still had that accident claim against me for 3 years and high insurance primiums. They might have not been able to hide it and get rid of it, but they used what power they could by being cops and screwed another person over, and it will always be like that no matter what.
"power currupts, absolute power currupts absolutely"
The point is this guy only seems to be the ultimate criminal and bad guy because he let himself in a position where they could nail him left right and centre, people need to understand the government and any law dosen't give two cents about you or me or the speeder or victim, they make it seem that way by making us against each other when the fact is they only care about one thing, making money and those working for them have the need to feel superior and move up their workforce ladder and ofcourse make money and are the only ones protected by breaking the law.
And if someone is still not convinced you should meet some black water agents down in woodbridge who get paind 400k plus a year to go around the world and kill people for fun! The truth is its not about innocense, or being killed its about who can make the rules and impose them and who stays in this bubble believe that they are wrong because the law says so, while some laws are legit things like this are plainly there to mess you up and squeeze money out of you.
