As you all know, i ride a Ninja 250. Im planning on moving over to Jevco and collision is about $400 more then without collision coverage. Is it worth getting?
TIA
TIA
Well its a 2010 Ninja 250 thats been down twice (cosmetic damage only, but all fixed up). I bought it for $6200 (Includes frame sliders, and other bike stuff) NEW last year. Probably worth the regular market price right now, $4500-5000?.what's the value of your bike?

I'll be paying around 1800/year with collision or 1400/without.$400 is a lot extra for collision. I would skip it. For me, it was only like an extra $60, so I kept it. Mind you, I pay $800 for the year.

Yes, 400 does seem like a lot. I think i'll skip it as i can probably repair the bike myself for less then $400 if i happen to lowside again.
good post, I got my bike totaled a month ago, I had collision, funny thing is that It wasn't part of my plan to get hit so I am just glad i wasted my money on collision and now I have a new bikeIf you can ride for 3 years without smashing your bike you are laughing. If you total it this year you will cry. Do what you want.

I do regret reporting my first lowside, i was nervous as it was my first accident EVER (bike or car). Didn't know the hell to do. Second time, i fixed it myself, was a piece of cake!Oh, and please don't ever claim if you lowside again. You did it already, and I heard of another guy who did it too. Makes me cringe. People don't realize how cheap bikes are to fix if you do it yourself, ESPECIALLY the 250.
Having ridden alongside with you once before, I wouldn't say you need it. Using your bike as a battering ram against another vehicle is a completely different story than lowsliding.
Save yourself the $400, and buy me a beer.
What is your deductible? I bought collision insurance with a $1K deductible simple because I wanted protection if my bike was written off. Small accidents/claims I'd rather pay myself then claim and have my premium increase. I pay less than $100 a year for this coverage. Seems a good deal to me.
If it was a cheap old beater and the difference in rates was significant, then maybe there's not point. But your bike is still worth over 4 grand. For the equiv. of about $35 per month, you might as well. If you crash it, you're going to be kicking yourself for not taking it.
