ZX14: Tell me about yours

I was looking at a few online today; sure are good looking bikes. So tell me the good, the bad, and the ugly about them.
BTW, I had a CBR1100XX for a few years, so I'm not unfamiliar with fast bikes. :)

I went from a ZX10R to a 2013 special edition ZX14R and after 3000 kms I'm loving it more and more. I find the seating position is more comfortable than my ZX10R was and it's pretty smooth and soaks up the bumps for a pretty comfy ride. Of course there is more than enough power on tap when needed and having ABS, 3 traction control settings and 2 power modes can help out a lot when you need it. Of course yes its a heavier bike but you don't notice it at all when when riding and it handles extremely well and I replaced those massive heavy stock exhaust with carbon fibre and estimate I lost 30 pounds. Another plus it's great for taking a passenger along with lots of seat room for them. The only knock I have on the bike it that there is zero trunk space and it's 1 banana seat so when you want to remove the cowling you have to remove the seat and remove 4 small screws to take it off. Other than that the bike is great, lots of fun and I have no regrets getting it. Also surprisingly my insurance is cheaper than my ZX14R and only costs me 1048 a year.

Looks like the new ZX-14 (2014) is more refined sand has more gadgets than Hayabusa.

How can you compare a race bike to a touring bike?

Last time I looked on the Kawasaki website the ZX14R is actually classed as a super sport but I guess you better than momma kawi.

Please show me which race they run ZX14's for AMA,MotoGP etc...

Let me guess.....you ride a scooter? To the question asked was "tell me a all about a ZX14R", which I did and you have no contributed zip to OPS question. So why post here about something you have zero knowledge of. As for which race they won who gives a crap. When you run into one on the street and you you get spanked, will it matter much what race they run? OP never asked about racing, he wanted info so don't be a troll.

Thanks for the info guys. Went and looked at an '09 today in Guelph. Pretty comfortable to sit on. Think I might hold out till next year andd get a new one though. It would be a second bike, so no mad rush.

WOW! How do you know I ride a scooter? And how do you know that I have zero knowledge.
dang! busted by a JESTER.

Good to know that even the most non - controversial request for info can quickly deteriorate into an argument here on GTAM, lol. Glad I didn't ask anything about a Harley! LMAO.

I'm 61 just got home an hour ago 2295km in 3 days.Would of done more,but the weather wouldn't co-operate

That's some serious riding! Good for you. I hope the one guy here who goes on about "middle aged riders" sees it. (I'm 55. Damn kids:D:D).

I still like to go fast, but I'm very selective of where and when, traffic was not an issue , but moose ,deer and bear could of been

Damn, must be a comfortable seat.
I really don't want to sit on it again for a day or two,the 2012 seat is better then the 2007 seat, but there's always room for improvement, years ago I carved out a zrx seat and installed 3/4" of high density camp foam(the blue mats from le baron)made a difference of 150 km more

I don't want to hear **** like this again -_-

The bike does not make the rider.

He will likely say what do you know...you ride some old scooter.

You think those bikes are production bikes?

So a Hayabusa is not a sport bike?

A busa and a zx14 are not sport bikes. They're production muscle touring bikes that have a very impressive top end. They do nothing else like a typical ss bike. I know arguing with you is pointless and none of them should be on the road so I'll just end it there.

There was some good info here. I've ridden a busa twice but nothing more than an hour at a time. I'd be very curious to see what the zx14 feels like in comparison and I will say I think it would be nice to have a touring capable machine with tons of power on tap that I could ride to the coast at any given time. 700+ km days on a ss aren't the most fun. For you zx14 owners... how is reliability? Is there any little details you wish were different?
