Zip your bags up.

Well, I made a newb mistake today. I went and picked up my newly painted handle deletes for my CBR. Well, when I get home, I see my backpack open and my deletes gone.

Close to $200 down the drain + the several days it took to get it painted.

I feel horrible right now .

So guys learn from my mistake, zip your bags up and secure them with a lock or something.

If you want, share your stories, what did you guys lose?

made that same mistake

didn't zip up my pocket with my wallet in it, flew out somewhere on the highway, never to be seen again :(

That sucks. Did you go back the way you came just to check? Not likely but you might get lucky

If you don't have a way to secure it with zipper pull cords use stuff like a twist tie, zip tie, paperclip, etc. If that can't be found zip it so the zippers draws are at the side and not the top where the wind can easily grab it and slowly open it up.

lost a coat liner, flew out on the way home, could not believe a backpack would open like that.

Its a lot more common than you'd think, that and the mattresses tied on a car roof with string.......

That sucks. Sorry for your loss. Great advice and reminder to secure loads. That should bode well in my never ending journey of self actualization. Godspeed to those on the same path.

I though t having the passenger having their hands holding it would be good enough? ;-)

That sucks. I once lost my truck keys in the Ganny. Found out near the end of the day when trying to unlock said truck. The Ganny seems so much bigger when you're looking for keys...

Sorry for your loss, you would've known exactly where they flew off if they ended up on someone's windshield, though.

Yeah, that sucks indeed. High speeds can open it up as well, especially if you have the zippers at the top as another poster pointed out.

I lost keys, as well as a few other small items out of my backpack once. Now I obsessively check it like a lunatic, in the mirrors or ask people I'm riding with if my bag is open and stuff.... Super annoying.

And yet, one can walk a mile for a Camel and not have the fly go down. It can get pretty windy in the Sahara. Inexplicable.

For bags with two zips, you can secure the pulls together by looping a paperclip through. Easy, quick, and no need to twist with the twist-tie.

If anyone finds remnants of a grey Hugo Boss suit strewn across the QEW in Oakville - that's mine. LOL. Amn expensive way to learn to zip down to the side, but lesson learned!

This happened to me too but not on the highway but in the middle of nowhere (hint -nikki's roadhouse area). Got all the way to the ancaster lcbo and no wallet... No gas left in the bike to double back either. Went home and got a call from a guy who was out jogging and not only found my wallet but picked up everything that got scattered. Offered to give him cash when I returned to pick it up but he wouldn't take it!

had this happen once, dont know if I forgot to zip all the way or it worked its way open, but I lost an Egg Mcmuffin :(

I have had worse things happen :D
