Your average KM per riding season.

30-40 thousand kilometers on Sport Bikes
40-60 thousand kilometers on dirt bikes and supermotos

All GTA not including long trips, ride events, shows, races.

Total anywhere from 70 - 100 thousand kilometers a year, been riding lagally lincensed on the streets since 2009, been riding bikes since 5 years old, all my cousins an i have been riding since we were kids everyday. and we still ride everyday possible, and when we go out we ride non stop 5 to 6 hours, and we ride to train not cruise, that adds up very fast in one week, in summer we rack up miles like crazy, we are always having to change or maintain something on our bikes every one or two ride, we go through tires, gas, and oil changes like crazy.

The bad? having to work on our bikes almost everyday or so, after years and years it gets hecktic, and upgrading to new bikes every spring/winter.

We all ride all year, rain or shine, snow or not. we build and work, maintain on our own bikes, i ride everywhere i go, specially because of the GTA traffic.

eventually riding hours will decrease as i get older to something like 2k -5k a year, and have a family and find other interesting things to master, like flying planes, traveling etc.

So if your average speed (between stopping and going, dirt roads and traffic) is 70km/hr and this is being very fair

100000 km divided by 70km/hr average it gives you a total of 1428 riding hrs a year
Divide that by 365 days in a year and it gives you an average of 4 hrs riding every day - rain, or snow, sick or healthy, this is non stop, take into account stops to grab a bite, gas stops etc and you are riding at least 5 to 6 hrs a day every day, not like you said "when we go out" it has to be everyyyyyy dayyyyy

Good for you but I tend to think that most people here on GTAM are full of ****

No... Everything anyone says is totally true, 100% of the time, especially on the Internet.

I like the company we keep around here, very dynamic indeed. Gonna marry a supermodel? Cruise at 100,000 ft.? Space travel?

Who really cares how much they ride? or where they ride to for what reason? If they enjoy it, good on them. There is no right and wrong, it comes down to doing what you like. If that means riding to timmies for a coffee down the street, then keep on going.
Good valid points, and to each their own. I always like to promote how much more there is to motorcycling!... Some people are missing out that's all!

Tim's makes good coffee so you'll see me there too along the way out of the city

If all my riding was in the GTA, I would have given up on bikes by now.

This guy is definitely one of those trolls reincarnated...I smell the ******** through my screen.

Back to the topic, I average abouy 15-20k a year and haven't been out of Ontario with my bike yet.

You got this all wrong.... He said 70-100k kms per year NOT including his long trips, events, shows and races. This must mean he rides 150,000k+ km per year with his trips added on.

Me: Its been about 12k km since last year of Feb on the CBR125. Cant say I'm bored of the bike yet regardless of what people say about being bored of the bike within the first week.

It's really more boring to ride a fast bike slow, than to ride a slow bike fast. I understand now that it wasn't just a fancy saying.

Im at about 4000km on my klx250 now but have seen a lot of cold and rainy weather. Im sure ill be over 15,000km by the end of the summer.

Seeing as we are now in January how many Km's did you put on your bike vs early estimates.

I ended with 15,500km, 1st year enthusiasm had me riding when ever I could

Hmmm ...

About 7000 km on the cbr125, about 2000 km on the zx10r, about 3000 km on the fizzer. 12000 total plus an unknown amount on my race bike.

Low year for me due to other travel. Maybe 5k in Australia if that. Perhaps 15 in Canada tho there was a cluster of weekends of 1600-2k in AUg and Sept that helped.....then stopped cold to go visit the western parks.

Feels funny not riding for so long.

Usually it's a shorter transition between Canada and Australia and I have to wrestled the ST1100 down the gravel hill, across the wonky bridge and slither back up the other side just to get it home......
Think I'll spend some time on the KLR first....

Hard life....

2011 - 10K KM's
2012 - 8K KM's (cut short by a crash in September)
2013 - 5K KM's (Started track riding, cut short by a crash in July, missed 2-2.5 months)

I'm starting to see a pattern...

I hear ya Mina! I've had the same pattern for the last four or so years ... I think I'll be lucky if I put 4000km on the street bike this year. Previous to getting on the track I would normally ride 20000+/season. 2013 was a short season for me, wrecked my shoulder at the end of July on the track.

Last year I got 13500 km's on. No big trips, but commuted every day and took the long way home quite often. We rode every weekend.

Been riding for 2.5 seasons now and so far...

Season 1 - CBR125R - September - December - 3,700km
Season 2 - CBR250R - March - November - 10,300km
Season 3 - CBR250R - April - November - 10,700km (only because I really stretched it out)

The numbers consist mainly of commuting with an occasional weekend day ride, and at least one 1500km+ ride in Season 2 and 3...

Looking to do at least 2 weekend trips this season…just hoping that winter won't stick around too long...
