You know you're a rider when....

So i'm a new rider and new to the forum. Reading a post sparked this "You know your a rider when" thought.

I've so far been so anxious to ride that instead of taking it onto the salt, snow and cold weather when it first got delivered i cleaned my garage, parked my car in the driveway and rode my bike the 22+feet forward and backed up (then repeated numerous times) as i tested the clutch sensitivity and brakes.

I've also noticed when i'm driving and i see riders (like today), and i'm driving close, i tend to get protective of that rider.
I literally cut off a driver that was merging into a lane with the biker riding in front of me, probably pissing off the driver, but provided a safe space for the unaware rider.

Is this only me? or have i been assimilated (like the Borg - for you Trekkie's) into the collective minds of a rider?

Lol ... Welcome

I hear the excitement wears off, but I haven't had it happen yet.

Your cage driving attitude will change a bit once you start riding, you'll notice things you didn't before.

I think almost everyone here sits on their bikes and makes motor sounds at least once during the winter.

I saw my bikes for the first time in like 3 months last week and I think I almost cried, I felt bad for leaving them to ride my "mistress" my skidoo.

Welcome, have fun and take it easy once the roads get cleared up!

Welcome to the club...the sound of a nicely blipped down shift turns my head faster than the sound of high heels...I have a can of pledge with my bikes name on it...I named my bike...I had my bike on paddock stands in the dining room for the winter, it is simply understood that that was going to happen...I have a 22km commute in the truck and a 100km route I often use to get home on the bike...I have ridden at least twice a month this winter...I downloaded the service manual for my bike, printed all 687 pages, punched them and put them in a binder...I am reading the service manual front to back...I have no recollection what I did with my time before I had a bike...I met more new and GOOD people in my first year riding than I did in the previous 20 years...I am just starting my second season.

<3 it when people do that, I like my space especially as a noob :p
Of course I came across some idiot today who decided stopping at a red light for a right turn was for losers and made a turn from the 2nd lane in to the lane I was about to go in to (good thing I noticed his shadow - and soon saw the suv - coming up and hit the brakes).
For the record, I was on the left tire track at the time.

I think i've uttered "Vroom Vroom" a few times, also gripping my car steering wheels at 10 and 2 (revving my steering wheel)...lol

Its the 2 wheels brotherhood...i almost considered pulling up beside the rider and say 'hey fellow rider' , but dont think theres a standard "bike wave" from your car ? lol

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one. In my house it's called A.D.O.B. (Attention Deficit .... Ooohhh Biiiike)

Good...I am normal...Flexrider, I have forgotten I am in the truck and given the wave (two fingers pointed at the ground). I've gotten the wave back too!

Here's a vid of me making motorcycle noises last week. I'm the camera bike.

Lol, this will be my first season riding a street bike but I have been doing things like this since I got my G license. Grew up hearing all my dads motorcycle stories and listening to him criticise other peoples driving around motorcyclists.

The country road I live on as of last year has a motorcycle drive past probably once every 5 minutes on a nice summers day and last summer I would sometimes sit out front and watch/listen to them, such a tease. Can't wait!!!

Great vid. Love this type of point of view camm'ing. An addition to my Youtube collection of vids ritual for my anticipation.
Today i'll be bike spotting in this great weather!!

I hate driving a car but love when suddenly a bike appears. It becomes my personal mission to protect them from other drivers, making my drive that much more pleasant.

Thats on my list to head into the country with my bike for this spring/summer for sure. I'm sure to find some country riders on this forum to just do a day of just that.

Yes you are. ;)

Welcome. I commute to Scarborough, half my commute is in "Country", Once I'm North of the zoo, riding becomes a lot more fun (and less stressful)....

I will probably see you drive by my place! Anyone who comes out this way ends up on my street at some point. Last year I was the girl with the crazy red clown hair sitting out front with a bunch of neighborhood kids teaching them how to tell which bikes had twin-v engines, haha! This year hopefully I will be just pulling out of my driveway on my new ride :)
