York U parking

For anyone who takes the car during the winter, I have a hookup on a garage rental at the top of the village (so as close to York as you can get). Comes with a garage door opener + remote. It's way cheaper than paying for parking at York & the plus is that when you get to your car, it isn't covered in snow & ice.

PM me if you're interested - I'm hoping to help a fellow rider out 'cause this is actually the best garage I've rented so far (there are some pretty retarded landlords in the village).

For those of you who ride to YorkU..where do you keep your gear? I ran into Seneca once, and saw that there were lockers in there. Is there any way to rent one of those out? It would be awesome to park the bike by Seneca, and then just throw all my gear into a locker.

I go to Seneca @ York. Yes they do have lockers and they're only rented out based on a lottery system (which sucks since I have very bad luck). You have to be:
1. A student from Seneca @ York
2. Win the lottery
3. Pay 20 bux for the semester.
I applied to the lottery twice (last semester and this semester) and didn't get one.

I am planning to just keep my cheapass helmet on my bike and wear gear around the school hoping it wont be scorching hot when the time comes.

I am also expecting the parking between the SEQ and Tel building to be packed w/ bikes this year. Last fall some people's bikes were lined up all the way to the sidewalk.

Other buildings have lockers. I rent at the Arts building (across the street from TEL) & I can actually fit my lid in there (unlike Seneca) & there are more than enough empty lockers to go around. If you're not a York/Arts student, then you get last pick at lockers (so you get pick at more than half of the empty lockers. lol)

I told the secretary that I wasn't an Arts student and she said to come back the next week but to forget to mention that I wasn't an arts student - such a cool lady.

Is it that building with the dance studios right beside seneca w/ the box office??

How much did you pay for the locker and who did you talk to? O_O

Lockers are like $25 per semester give or take a few bucks i think.

Any idea who I can talk to about this / where I can arrange a rental?

Hey you!

Stop parking in the middle of the walk way. You're there every day parking in the same spot blocking people from walking. The only reason we're allowed to park our bikes there is because we're not obstructing the walkway. Don't ruin it for the rest of us.

Wow you're a stalker

Wow you're a stalker

Lol I was parking and had my video recording thats just a screen shot from the video. I was late to my exam and had to run.
How exactly am I a stalker?

You're still a creepy stalker...
and he/she isn't blocking the sidewalk, stop crying.

Damn, how'd you know I was crying? Stalker.

Anyways, just saying cause I have seem people try to squeeze between the bike and the pillar sometimes bumping the bike. I just don't say anything to them because it is a stupid place to park where there is a decent amount of people walking through that area between buildings.

It has been a long time since I've had anything to do with this, so my information could be wrong...

Way back when, students parking at this point would get away with it 95% of the time. The ticketers would look the other way. However, if there was a lot of bikes, or if they started parking close to where people would normally walk, then the ticketers would come and ticket every bike on the scene. This isn't stopping anyone from going anywhere, but it is "blocking a pedestrian walkway" from their point of view.

They do turn a blind eye at the moment like you said because we're not blocking the walkway.

If they were to turn a blind eye to this, then someone will park on the other side of the pillar. If they turn a blind eye to that, people will start parking closer to between the pillars. Parking authority has to draw the line somewhere and people seem to have the "they do it so I should do it too" attitude.
You may not see it in the picture, but the space in between the pillars can fit 2 people. Do you - oren102 think that a few thousand people walking through there should walk in single file to daily causing crazy congestion just because people with motorcycles don't care where they park?

Yorku doesn't give tickets there because they don't have the legal rights to. It is legally seneca property. Do you PLau actually believe that a few thousand people walk threw that 1 meter every day? Do you PLau have any idea how many people even attend Seneca? Do you PLau not have the balls to actually go up to the person parking there and ask them politely to not park there or do you post all things you are annoyed with on forums?

1. approx 5000 full time students as of fall 2010 @ the york campus. Many of the students walk between the SEQ and TEL building for classes.
2. that is still york's property - If you didn't know, if you park anywhere else even if it is seems like its on "seneca's property" you will get a ticket from york. Also, there used to be motorcycle parking there but the lines were erased and cars park there cause supposedly motorcycles had their parking passes(? the thing with the time stamp) stolen and ended up being ticketed.
3. mentioned above, I was running late for an exam
4. I dunno about you, but would you like a bunch of random people bumping in to your bike when they walk by? Would you be worried about your own bike getting knocked over if you were parked near that bike and it was knocked over? On nice days, bikes are parked just a couple feet apart.

York tickets there - I have a few old tickets to prove it. They have little meaning to Seneca students, however.

After a certain amount of tickets or money owed, I heard York hires companies to tow vehicles away.

I got your back on this one. oren102, stfu. I actively try NOT to park my bike in the way where people mostly walk, what the **** is wrong with telling someone NOT to do it.
