York U parking

Well my guess the only reason why we can park at seneca@york, because its not a york building. Someone told me today they got a ticket if you park past a post or something. But this is ridiculous, we get free parking downtown, why not here?

Is someone willing to bring this up to york and maybe create a big stink about it. I understand we cant block pathways or places.. but if bicycles are allowed, why arnt we? or do bicycles have to pay 800 a semester to park there too lol?

most the bike spots that are for us are taken up by smart cars.. and i only see about 3 spots just for us.. full parking price :| wtf??

They won't care. It's income and they won't lose it. Asking yorku to not screw you financially is like asking envy rides owners to not be badass posers.

Anyways, if there is enough support for it and a sound argument why... I can bring it up to the president/VP of students. I have a meeting with them at the end of april.

Outside of yorku those tickets are worth the paper they're printed on. Once you're free of there let them call. They can't do anything. If the city gets involved cuz they want money it could be a good year or two till things get resolved and then if yorku losses all of your tickets are gone!

If you're a student at York, you are in a binding contractual relationship with York University and that relationship defines what will happen you fail to pay debts owed to York U. They parking tickets they hand out are just part and parcel of all the other university fees that students are required to pay.

The one thing you do have right is "once you're free of them". Unfortunately, if you're a student hoping to graduate, you probably won't be free of them until you pay up any debts you owe to the university. This includes unpaid parking tickets.

If you have McMaster parking tickets that are unpaid, you cannot renew your license. I don't know if York does this yet, but if McMaster got it approved, it is only a matter of time before other institutions follow. McMaster traces plates all the time. The people getting tickets are the people that don't have passes and aren't registered with the school.

If you don't the short walk you should try the Track and Field center right off Steeles. I parked there everyday last summer and never got a ticket. Sometimes I park in the lot if the front spaces are open, or else I just park by the front doors.

This is slightly off topic, but as for the repercussions of getting tickets, I racked up 2.5gs in tickets with one of my parent's cars when I was just going there to train. (I didn't go to school there at the time) And I did a lot of research and ended up finding out their tickets aren't legal. I didn't get anything from them for over 2.5 years then they started sending letters to my house requesting to pay. However I did eventually buy the track and field parking pass which was about $300 for the year, regular price is around a few grand so in the end I still came out on top by a large margin.

We must have a yorku parking enforcement officer on the boards because I got a ticket the day after I posted this... :( And my bike was the only 1 to get the ticket...

lol that's a negative! I've asked 3 different brown dudes at York now... "yo are you Link666 from GTAM?"

They all gave me strange looks which was kinda funny, and then ofc I had to explain what GTAM was etc etc...

If u decide to, I can book a room for ppl to chill at in student centre. It can seat 5-6 and fit 10-12 ppl... Lemme know!

Haha ya. Just started to make real turns. Took a bit of time to get used to the new bike. Gonna wash the bike soon, it's dirty.

Do you mean the RC CBR? It had all the logos on it. I thought it was a track bike lol.

I've seen you there a couple of times. Do you usually have someone 2up? or had someone 2up at the start of the season?

Yeah thats the one I'm taking about. Its loaded with decals you can barely see the paint lol...

I only occasionally ride 2up, never to school though. Tons of other bikes park there now that the weather is getting better. I've seen a bunch of 250's, R6, duc, zx6 and others. Should be fun if theres a group ride later this season :)

Yeah, I was thinking there should be a motorcycle club at yorku since there are a lot of us there. The 848 is sweet, I saw a red 675 too. Quite a few GSX-Rs.
