Yami FZ6 rider parked at Front st... you left the keys on the ignition

+1 to the OP. I don't know why but I have a habit of walking away from my bike with the key either in the ignition or one of the bag locks. I never do it with the cage but there's something about the bike. It would be nice to have a bike with a proximity switch.

Aye, I've done the same multiple times. I've even gone to the mall to see a movie and didn't realize the key was still in the ignition until I was on my way out to the parking lot. Scares the crap outta me every time.

Thankfully I've made myself paranoid enough that I haven't done this in a while... :P

Now to be a REAL saint :angel4: .... when giving the key back to the owner, OP give cas$h to the owner to have the ignition/tank/seat-release re-keyed to alleviate any anxiety on owner's part that the key to his beloved FZ was copied.
j/k.

well done, OP!

That was my "get away vehicle". I've got your information, and when I get out of prison, I'm gonna get you!!!!!!!

GTAM needs to have its' own troll face stickers. lol I'd stick one on if I was the OP. :P

Good job! Most guys have that 'remove before flight' ribbon onto their keys. Still want one and don't want to order one off ebay..

hard to forget your keys when you are in the habit of locking your steering.

Wow! Thanks for all the kind words

BTW, I didn't post to toot my own horn, I was hoping that the owner would read this by chance.

Well, this is the conclusion: he called me and I just gave him back his key!
I asked him to show me some ID... just in case... after all this, I wouldn't want to give the key to the wrong guy, right?

He showed me matching insurance and driver's licence, and then he got his key

Have a good long weekend, everybody!

Get Scorpio i900 alarm or similar. When the key is in your pocket and you walk away, the alarm will arm/chirp.

Unfortunately, not quite correct. The alarm auto-arms itself a few seconds after you shut off the bike, whether you're there or not -- at least in the Scorpio's case. The only thing that changes once you walk away is that the sensors will become active (silently) and the alarm can be tripped.

Would definitely be nice to have some way of the alarm warning you if you leave the key in the ignition, though.

Mad props. You did the right thing. I hope the rider was properly grateful.

What does that have to do with leaving your keys in the ignition? I lock my steering every time I turn off the bike, and still leave my key in it all the time!
