Yamaha R6 S

Anyone on this forum have the R6S not the R6. Yamaha guys/gals will know the difference. Looking at it for a possible next bike as it has a more upright position. If you have one what do you think, advantages and disadvantages of the bike. More popular in the U.S. than here.

I am not much familiar with the Yamaha Bikes as have not used as i am owning Honda bike but what i understand is R6S is a lower power version of R6 with less aggressive ergos.

The R6S is the previous gen of the R6, before the current R6. It was a great combo bike..all-rounder (if you can imagine calling the R6 an all-rounder..). Think of it as the current F4i.

no complaints about mine..... what specifically are you concerned about???

I have a 2008 R6s, riding position is more comfortable than the newer R6 models for city or long rides. Other riders tell me that it has more power at lower speeds. it has more than enough power to get your around the city :)

If you need more info you can PM me, i can meet you and show you the bike. I might also consider selling this current r6s. cheers!~

More useable midrange than the racier R6

How are the ergos on this model? Would they be somewhere in between a super sport and a sport touring? Or closer to a super sport...

I'm trying to relate it to the Ninja 650R with the sport bars option.

I have an 03 R6 (which is an R6S ...) and my brother has an 06 R6 (which is the newer ergo's) and there is a WORLD of difference in riding / seating position... mine feels like a couch compared to his ...

I would say sport bike not a tourer our similar to a 650R

I know this one is good and well kept.

Make an offer
I can vouch, very well kept ;) It's my bike!

Want all the benefits of the R6S (super comfy, monster power down low) and be able to spank ANY current R6 up top too?! Buy that bike :D

I love my R6S! I can ride it 12 hours in a day and not be sore. My R6? Good luck. My R1? Hopefully the new seat and header wrap helps :(

The R6S has WAY more low end power than the current R6, makes it way more fun on the street! And with a few cheap upgrades ($4 slide stops, $150 velocity stacks, $90 ignition advance rotor), you can keep the monster power down low AND spank the new R6's up top too! WOOT :D

You will love the R6S, even stock. It does everything really great, super fun on the street.

Thanks for the info people. Just considering this as a possible next bike. Toysareforboys, nice bike. Saw your youtube video and love the shorty exhaust. Stock exhaust on this bike looks hideous!

ergos... it would be somewhere in between a sv650s with clip ons and a supersport... i owned a few ss's(including r6), a standard, and a sport tourer... and i've ridden an r6s... and based on that thats where i feel it stands. but everyone has different feelings on comfort levels, some people like some things, others dont.

OP, the bike will have more than enough power to do whatever you'd like to do on the street, and you'll probably not run it to its limits on the track either. only way to tell if you like it is to go sit on one and take it for a spin if possible.

Yes, yes it does. When I bought the bike, it had a MASSIVE Yosh pipe on it. Was the absolute worst sounding pipe I've ever heard. So raspy and rattly, probably needed new packing. Took some work to get the shorty Two Bro's on there :) I found out after I did that, a bunch of companies sell out of the box shorties that'll work on the R6S (Competition Werks, Riot HR1, and two more I forget the names of right now).

The way I got my bike:
