Re: Yamaha R6 lovers

So it's about emissions?
You wouldn't believe what emissions though, intake noise emissions was the reason for reducing the throttle blade openings :( I'm sure the leaner fuel mixture was for improving tailpipe pollution emissions. The reduction in spark advance? Maybe to prevent damage to the engine if someone accidentally put in 87 octane fuel.

Re: Yamaha R6 lovers

This was mine, it got stolen, then I got a Duc 848

Re: Yamaha R6 lovers

I never bought an R6 because I was already riding adult size bikes long before they were available.

My 2001 R6. All the blue Rizoma goodies money can buy, vinyl wrapped white in sections to off set the beautiful Yamaha Blue. Vortex levers in blue, 520 chain + sprockets (blue of course), blue under glow + lights, full Hindle Titanium exhaust and a bunch of other goodies. My version of the best tribute to the early R6's.

The other bike... Well, just another 2001 Yamaha R6 :) Street fighter, lots of custom work. TAG Moto-X handlebars, custom exhaust, chopped rear end off, K&N air filters where the ram air split into 2 (since fairing is gone). Custom bracket for gauges is mounted to the two allan screws that hold the tank in. Bunch of extra awesomeness. Ultimate wheelie machine.

Why are R6's amazing bikes? Because YAMAHA!

Re: Yamaha R6 lovers

I sat on one at the show..fell in love with it..but the riding position's too aggressive.... felt instant arm pump, bike was not even moving!

Install Tech Specs and squeeze with your knees. Better seat helps too. If doing long rides extra heavy weight bar ends are nice. Should be ZERO weight on your arms/wrists while riding. I can do 8hr straight rides on R6, arms/wrists not sore at all.

Re: Yamaha R6 lovers

I've always wanted one. Been playing Yamaha drums for years so that might have something to do with it ?

I bought it from a dealer, but I believe that he was selling it for Christina. It's a great bike!
Nice! A lot of my blood, sweat and tears (especially tears) in that bike. That rear sprocket is a super soft YEC aluminum racing sprocket so keep an eye on teeth condition. Other than that, enjoy :)
