for those on Rogers internet, your results will be inaccurate cause Rogers boosts the speed for the first xMb of a file. In the real world, mine is as advertised, 30mb down/3mb up

I'm with Teksavvy & its as advertised. No gimmicks

When it comes to upload/download speeds; you pay for what you get. Through Rogers you could post huge numbers (up to 350Mb/s) but you're going to be paying a lot (+$200/m).

I live out in the country, no access dsl, fiber. I have my own wireless trunk to a local provider.

Speedtest: 32MB down, 3 up, ping is 8ms. Trunk supports up to 90MBs both directions if I want to pay more a higher service.
Pingtest jitter: 1 ms.

This thread came around at the perfect time as I am just working on leaving Rogers -- I am thinking about start.ca; anyone here use them? How is the reliability?

I am with Rogers now, and they have been very reliable, but the other day I went out to NCIX to buy a cable modem that is listed to work on Rogers -- a Thomson DCM475. Well, 4 hours of being on hold over two days, as well as an hour long visit to the local Rogers store, and they still can't figure out why their system won't accept this modem's serial number.

I finally got through to retention and they convinced me not to cancel on the spot by luring me in with more data and telling me they got the modem problem is fixed. Just after I hung up I discovered that they gave me an add-on to my package, and then gave me a discount for one year... so one more hassle I will have to go through every year just to keep the same price. Oh... and my modem still doesn't work.

I think I will just go to start.ca, which has free installation since I already have cable internet, and they tell me this modem will work. Besides, it is a cheaper price for more data and 1/4 the price overage charges.

I'm pretty happy with my Rogers plan. $45 a month plus HST

- 30mb down, 3mb up
- 300gb data
- free modem

How did you get that?

Mine is 25 down, 2 up, $7 for a modem, 80gb, and $54.99.

I talked to retention and they gave me a 20% discount for a year... so now that is down to about $54 with tax. They also up'd my gb to 100.

The kicker is that every single year these discounts expire and then I have to spend hours trying to get through to retention just to try to get the same deal as before. I am tired of it after wasting about 4 hours this past weekend.

That's why I left. I have unlimited data with Teksavvy now. Can't be better, I hate having to look at my usage

Hey Mike, didnt i warn you about going back to Robbers just a few months ago?

I just got off the phone with retention again. I told them about that deal, but they would not offer it to me.

The best they could do was give me 25% off, and that discount would only be for one year -- so I set a cancellation date and am going to start.ca.
