WTF is wrong with some people??

Very sad indeed :( But how did the driver end up in the hospital with serious injuries? The article was a little vague on that part.

The van rolled over when it went into the ditch. My guess is the kid got tossed around inside.

A was speaking with a cop friend that works downtown and he said sticking your hand in to try and grab the keys is a no no..even if it isnt a no no i would think it was a pretty poor decision, especially for someone with 7 years experience. Like why would you try and do that?

Yeah, that probably wasn't the best plan..maybe he thought the kid was calm enough such that he wouldn't do anything stupid..apparently he was mistaken.

The little punk that caused this tragedy will have a wheelchair to remind him of the 2 stupid mistakes that he made, for the rest of his life.

That's about it..just stupid and senseless. Man..what a waste.

R.I.P officer

A) Or maybe the officer was afraid the kid would run and get into a high speed chase scenario.

B) Where did the "Kid in a wheelchair" information come out?

The driver is in hospital with critical injuries. He may be paralyzed and is being charged with 1st degree murder. Hopefully this kid becomes a motivational speaker to try to prevent others from making such stupid choices.

this is tragic, really is, very sad for the wife though, a 9 week old...i've met people who have gone through this where they lose their significant other and they have small kids...so much could have been avoided, why the cop thought it was alright to lean in when you are trained not to, and why the kid tore off, only he knows...now we have lost a valuable asset to the city because of a stupid mistake by a kid...this shouldn't be happening...honestly, why aren't the parents held accountable for what their kids do when they are a minor...that will snap a lot of people back into line...now we have this kid that might be a potential paraplegic for the rest of his life, leeching on our healthcare...i don't feel sorry for this kid at all...

From the Star' article...
"Later in the afternoon, the 15-year-old was taken on an emergency run to the Hospital for Sick Children with a police escort. He suffered severe spinal injuries that may result in paralysis.
The three other passengers in the van are cooperating with officers, police said."

Later in the afternoon....!? Are they saying that the 15 year old was taken to the hospital, with the paralyzing injuries, from the police station hours after he was arrested?

He was more than likely taken to Southlake and after being assessed and stabilized was transported to another hospital that could better take care of his injuries....
