WTF, Aprilia?

Please....an automatic is a true motorcycle in all senses of the word???? NBL

Motorcycles corner best under power, and at the minimum, a direct connection of rpm to wheel rotation..free-wheeling of any sort, need not apply.

However..the rest of your post has considerably more credibility than this statement.

And their twins are among the most fuel efficient litre-sized twins there is available. You obviously are referring to the V4, of which I have no past experience with.

Not every motorcycle is about 'cornering'. I see nothing wrong with automatic shifting in a wide range of motorcycles, especially ones built for adventure and or touring. CVT and/or DSG are both perfectly suited for many different kinds of bikes, and the aprilia mana is just one of then. I didn't know that manually shifting gears was the defining criteria for a "true motorcycle", whatever that is...

Heh, more to it than that. The Mana will happily power the rear wheel in, through and out of a corner if you so desire. It has a manual mode which can lock a particular forward "gear," as well.

But hey... if you hate freewheeling bikes, you must hate slipper clutches. And you must *really* hate two-strokes.

Damn did Corsa Meccanica just pop up out of nowhere? Reading this thread is the first I've heard of them, and I live a km away...

Just replaced the battery on my 07 RSV. Corsa Meccanica had the parts in stock, even a stator just in case.

BMW dropped the Aprillia line from my conversation with the Sales Manager it was due to the lack of support for spares.

Interesting, it seems like there is absolutely no consistency from BMW TO as to why they no longer deal with Aprilia. I've heard the reason you have cited, I have also heard head office direction, and other reasons. All those different reasons are sourced from BMW TO, yet are all inconsistent. At this point, I'm not sure I would put much weight into the reasons we are being provided. Sounds like we're simply not getting the real information.

Better yet, George wants to/is looking into using better-than-OEM stators for the RSV/Tuono twins.

So... anyone up for an Aprilia meet before the season is really over? Something central perhaps to allow both east and west end folks to come? I'm downtown.

There's a thread on the Aprilia forum regarding rick's motorsports stators. Better than OEM and only like 135$ compared to new OEM ones apparently.

4 years, same battery for my Tuono. Everyone has a different story, I guess.

I just bought a '12 RSV4 R... next season can't come quick enough!

Have your buddy just buy the Race ECU... Yes it's expensive but you can sell it used when you get rid of the bike.

Those bike have a very small niche market, good price and kick *** performance or not majority of people prefer owning a jap bike....They are harder to get parts for, harder to find good mechanics to work on them, and pretty much everything involved with owning one is going to cost more......Not a very smart investment for them to build a parts and service network here for them, when only a few people own/buy them....What do you expect them to do fully stock a dealership with parts and mechanics and specialty tools, for a very small group of owners.....

Honestly dont you want it to stay like that? Dont you like the fact no one really rides the same bike as you? If they blow up, your bike will not be as unique here anymore...Is that what you really want, Aprilla to turn into bikes everyone knows like GSXR's and R6's

1+
I like uniqueness.

Just set up the go pro, it's a little shaky on the windscreen. Short clip going through Norval. Didn't know where to post
