WTF - adding to the stable (ninja 250 and or sv 650 [UNREAL figures])

tried primum, jevco & TD

all same price or more than my current state farm quotes...

what am i missing here? how are people getting 600/yr or less for a ninja 250...

What kind of coverage are you shopping for? $1 million liability only?

You mentioned you're with State Farm ........ did you ask them about their umbrella policy? It saves us some coin at my house. Are you the only rider in the house as well?

Ya, my umbrella covers my multiple vehicles and house ,,,,,,, basically they pool your policy (assets) together for your $1000000 coverage, and you pay the premium on each as if covered for a much lower rate (like a $250000 coverage on each). I think to run the umbrella policy is about $13/month.

just to add to the fire...
my buddy, 26 yrs old - 2005 GSXr 750! full coverage.

$90/ mo with statefarm!!! WTF is going on and why am I the one getting fleeced...

$130/ SV 650 is the best i have found, which is not even close to what im willing to pay.
again my 07 zx6 is only 120$/ mo

we joke, he is a visible minority with a worse record...so our conclusion is that he its because hes a visible minority. I am starting to believe it...

Does he have a car insured with them? That would explain it.

Basically the way state farm rates the 650 is because its larger than 600cc (which is technically 599cc's) then they bump it up to the next category which is the 750cc class. My sv650s was more expensive than my gsxr 600.

yes i get that, i understand how state farms works...

this is from all the quotes so far (jevco, allen, aviva, statefarm)

I still dont understand how we have riders on here paying 600/yr for full insurance on a 250 and 800 for a Sv 650...how come I cant find these places.

As for the CAR, its literally 5% on both vehicles...thats a grand total of 5-6 bucks a month off...not gonna bring my 120 down to 90

State Farm does have a hefty discount that kicks in on bike insurance when you have auto and home, or just auto (can't remember) ... For a lot of people, it's not that great because auto insurance is usually cheaper elsewhere - but if you're just looking at the discounted price of motorcycle insurance, it will seem really low. It's definitely more than 5%.

yup i just found out its upwards of 40%!!
wow

but still, not an option for me.

Statefarm will quote based on CC, not the type of bike......

If you have a spotless record and on statefarms's GROUP A pricing, no one can touch that price.

SF (and TD/Meloche/Primmum) are unbeatable for SS bikes; however, for non-sport bikes there are many competitors who can probably beat State Farm for an experienced rider.

more funnies?

the 2010 Triumph 675 is 150$ cheaper than the 2008+ sv650 with statefarm...i call ********.
but wait, i priced em both with statefarm...LOL

im guessing 1700 is decent for a triumph 675?

considering my 2008 zx6 is 1500...

/08 ZX6R = 599CC
TRUMPH 675 = 675CC

the SV might have a higher claim ratio on it, as well as higher theft rating...

ya exactly, i was thinking that was the case...sv's are a dime a dozen.

cool stuff though..the 675 has been a dream bike forever, now its becoming more of a reality.

specially the white one with blue frame...jeeeeeez

State Farm is funny. Their motorcycle quote was like $50/mth less than Meloche Monnex. I was like w00t, so they tell me that I have to insure my car with them. Well, their car insurance quote was over $80/mth more than MM. One way to screw your customers I guess.

You get an additional discount with TD or SF if you also bring your Home/Condo/Tenant policy to them. If you are young and paying a high Auto premium, sometimes you can get a "rate reversal" by adding a cheap tenant policy. By this, I mean the discount you will get by bundling a tenant policy will exceed the premium for the tenant policy. In other words, they are paying YOU to get the Tenant policy :) It's always worth looking into, and it's god to have coverage on your stuff if you are renting anyway.

It's also worth noting that this unfortunately only seems to work if you have auto insurance - renter's or home insurance with motorcycle insurance alone doesn't net much of a discount.
