when you use the antiquated colonial term of 'oriental', do you mean:

oriental in the edward said-school of orientalism?

or are you referring to oriental in the ancient etymology of egypt?

or is it the 1800s-era regionalism encompassing india?

or finally, is it all eastern cultures, including but not limited to the middle, south, and far east?

just want to see exactly how backward your notions are.

never thought of it as racism and I think most Asians don't care either knowing what the non-Asian meant. Growing up in mid 80's Asians such as myself were commonly referred to as Oriental (and other names too lol) than it shifted somewhere to being called Asian or Chinese for all Asian looking people. And by Asian it doesn't include SouthEast Asian countries such as India, Pakistan and pretty much any country to the west of Thailand. Same as Natives being called Indians during the 80's the term just shifted to a more politically correct one but some haven't caught up with the times.

See this is why I don't eat raisins, and NO I wouldn't eat the stew. One time I found a June Bug floating in my Fruit Loops cereal when I was about 8, I haven't eaten Fruit Loops since then.
