Would you buy used brake pads?

Aftermarket pads are cheap enough to begin with.
If it was OEM I'd have no problem buying used, as long as they're in good shape.

Do you get your pads from Kurvey Girl?

No, I use OEM on my GSX-R and Ferodo's (haven't tried them yet) from Dave @ Competition Cycle for my track bike.
Ferodo's are nice :)

As you can see the groove marks, a brake pad is "mated" to the rotor. Not only is there a physical change to the brake pad, but believe it or not, the rotor and brake pad "exhange" materials for best brake feel and performance. Google "brake pad" bedding. I've also performed this on all my cars and the brake feel before and after is noticeable. You also dont know if those brake pads were accidentally splashed with oil, brake fluid etc etc that may compromise them further...

Like someone said, if i was limping home and they were an item i needed, i'd use them with no qualms to get me home. With that being said, your rubber and brakes simply MUST give you confidence otherwise you will never fully enjoy the riding with that nibbling feeling in the back of your head.

Pads are cheap, I'm cheap but won't want used pads

I bought used oil once, on my old bike. My friend was changing his Amsoil MCF full synth every 3000km's. I told him to save his old oil for me. Ran it in my R6S, after 2k in my bike I did UOA w/TBN, was like new. Check it after 5k (so 8k total), still flawless. Check it at 10k (so 13k total) and it was in the "acceptable" range but I changed it anyway :) After I showed him the tests he quit changing it at 3k so I lost my supply of free "almost new" oil :(

Did you at least filter it?
I imagine the grit oil can pick up when collecting it from a drain plug under a dirty bike.

I don't get why ppl change amsoil full syn so early.. its rated for 12k either way as for the pads. do you buy used old socks with new shoes??? as far as I am concerned pads= socks, tyres= shoes

My taxi friend who runs amsoil in his taxi's runs his to 20k and changes JUST the filter every 10k! lol. nuts :)

I buy Amsoil for my friends as a side thing and yes if you have a healthy engine some of their oil blends are rated for 25K not surprised at all although its only recommended for European engines below 100K mileage(amsoil guarantee for legal reasons) anything past they wont cover but its still good

My brother did an experiment with a very high mileage old Chevy van. Didn't change oil or filter, just added oil as needed. Put on over 20K miles that way. Engine still ran when he scrapped it.
