Vcan products, haven't heard about them until today. Checked out the company site, very impressive manufacturing operation. If they adhere to the ISO9000 standard then it comes down to every helmet purchase. How well does it fit you and are you happy with quality/features and benefits of the product.

Dude, you've got only one head and there's no dress rehearsal for this stuff, you know what I'm saying?
Do yourself a favour and just buy a nice Shoei or something...

I've noticed that Crappy Tire are starting to carry more styles of bike helmets. They seem to be mostly no-name brands and they all just list sizes from s-xl, i'm guessing the fit on them isn't the best. Anyone have one, any thoughts on quality/fit etc..?

Here's a link to their current powersports helmets page:

Would you buy a car made entirely with Canadian Tire parts?

No, you wouldn't. So why would you wear one of their helmets?

You do realize that ISO9000 adherance simply means that they have to follow only what they themselves have written down as their own processes. Simply put, they do what they say they are going to do. If they write down that as quality control that employee A polishes the helmet with their forehead then that's a pass.

I'm very familiar with ISO. I'm also aware that the auditors that give you your flag are not as daft as you have suggested. Having had to deal with them personally, its not that simple.
Anyway, the question is whether you would buy a helmet from CT. Thousands of articles/forum posts on helmet recommendations and it always come down to an individual choice of cost, comfort and quality you are happy with.

To answer the OP's question, no I would not put my head in an $80 bucket but that is solely my choice and how I perceive the value of an $80 helmet. Personally, I try to avoid anything made in China. That video on their site could have been shot in a studio with CG for all I know.

Just trying to be objective. That is all.

No.

I think most of you are making too much about nothing.A $700 Shoei or Arai will have a cushy liner, better vents and visor and help you "look" like you really know what you are doing. But a Crappy tire lid in good condition (hasn't been played with by a family of 5) will save your life just fine.
Bottom line is...buy the best gear you can afford, and wear it!

wingboy is correct bigtime on this one.

whatever helmet you choose to buy will do the job. Lets face it, even a million dollar helmet aint helping when you smash your face against a tree doing 120

in the end, its about how cool you want other bikers to think you are. lol

my first helmet was the cheapest POS i could find at Walmart. If it wasnt for the law, i wouldnt wear one at all.

And that's where an $800 matching lid comes in. :D

I've also wondered about this topic before. It may not bethe lightest or coolest looking helmet. But as a DOT certified helmet it must meet certain criteria to be sold in the Canadian market no? I've never seen SNELL certification on one at CT but I've never really looked into it in detail.

Look at the sharp report there is really no difference in protection between these or high end lids. As long as it meets DOT you will be fine, the $200 fiberglass shell one actually looks pretty good.

Is that the reflection of the flash on the helmet ? or is it painted on ?

cause that looks cool

It's not the flash. It's called the "Classic Star" paint scheme.New this spring.Cool huh?
