Worst places to live in the GTA

+2 to Brampton. But I'd still rather live here than Hamilton. At least here I could buy a decent home and not smell the after effects of Stelco... or enjoy the industrial 'scenery'.

This is a tricky question and you'll find good/bad anywhere you go.
You can be in a "rough" area one minute, cross the street and be into 700-800k homes and never know the ghetto was behind you unless you had a reason to venture in.

There are some neighbourhoods that are pretty solidly decent but this is very true for a lot of GTA and I think that is how city planners like it. They don't want to have ghettos pinch off from affluent areas. They try to keep it mixed so that everybody intermingles in the hope its for the greater good of the city. Like on one side of the street you'll have ontario housing and across the street you;ll have nice bungalows.

These threads make me laugh ... like I care what other think and know what people consider normal or not.

I turned down several jobs because they were all in the GTA. Toronto's good for a day trip...nothing more.

I was born, raised, and spent the first 26 years of my life in west end Toronto. Roncesvalles village to be exact. The last ten years have been in Woodbridge, mainly due to the once cheaper house prices.

Would I ever move back to Toronto? HELLS NO!

Toronto is now a hole. A crowded, dirty, hole.
If they were going to give Ontario an enema, they'd stick the hose in Toronto!

I'll keep quiet, spacious, well-kept suburbia. Thanks.

Roncy is where I am and has become extremely popular since you left. It's rated as one of the best neighbourhoods in downtown Toronto. Only drawback is it sits on top of Parkdale so some of that riffraff does venture north. Conversely, I would never live in Woodbridge. A bit Jersey Shore and too many Escalades and Hummers driven by egomaniacs.

Actually I never really "left." My parents' house is there, so I was in the neighborhood at least once a week until my mother passed away last year. They had a beautiful Victorian house, which I considered renovating, but had no interest in living in the neighborhood. None the less, I still like to stop in at Aris' place for a burger and fries now and then.

And yes, I'd rather deal with the occasional Snooky-type character, than the crackhead who walks up from Jamieson.

Whole f--king city of Toronto. I live in the burbs.

it's funny how people who grew up in the city praise the suburbs and those of us who grew up in the burbs love the city.

I grew up in Markham and I hate it, it's getting worse and worse, terrible urban planning nothing what so ever to do inside of a 30minute drive, the same lame boring people everywhere you go, suburban living is so lobotomising.

I guess age makes a big difference but I can't wait to move into the city, hopefully getting a place distillery district area, ya it boarders a few sketchy areas but at least you can walk out your door and theres something other than a sea of identical subdivisions.

Damn, you guys are pretty harsh on this city lol. I think Toronto is a great place to live if you're a city person. It's just that it has a lot of big-city-(sometimes wannabe)-syndrome which is expected of any large urban area. $#it-hole-wise, it doesn't even compare to most US cities. There isn't a single area of TO that I'd be very fearful walking through at any time of day (a little different if you're female). That being said, we do have some crap neighbourhoods. My list of crap to add:

Rexdale
Flemo
Cedarbrae
Morningside
Westhill
Almost the entire lengths of Parliament, Sherbourne and Kingston Rd west of durham
And the Shwa

We all know of the good places to live in the GTA.
Namely: Markham, Richmond Hill, Downtown (mostly), beaches, and Rosedale.

So any opinions on the worst areas in the GTA?

Let me just state the obvious.

Jane/Finch, Cabbagetown, and Cresent Town.

Please add inputs, thanks!!

crescent town ?? lol i grew up in dawes road. LOL

Some clown takes his dog and pisses on my lawn all the time.
