Working from home gets complicated

True. But it doesnt take much for the insurance company to figure out you were using your vehicle for business related purposes and find cause to not only deny a claim but cancel your policy. Their priority is cover themselves and find any way out to paying anything. For the minimal premium increase. Its peace of mind.
That's actually what I meant - make sure the insurance company deems it to be driving FOR vs. TO work by going through specific examples so they're clear on exactly how you're using the vehicle. The last time I asked for clarification, I recall it being centered on delivery and having others in or driving the car. Simply driving myself to different offices for meetings was fine. But now that this has been brought up, I think I will ask again.

This sounds like just another way for insurance to get more money out of us. What you describe sounds to me like a typical driving to work scenario, since it's not your business, and you're not carrying passengers (for profit). Further, shouldn't your company be covering you if they require you to drive your own car on company time?
I had a discussion like this for my wife's work.

It's a cleaning business, and she's not transporting any passengers or materials (except cleaning products) so what does that mean in terms of insurance.

Insurance: well she's using it for business
me: but how is this different than me going to an office each day?
Insurance: she has her own business
me: and? she's not transporting anyone and typically has 1 customer / day
insurance: let me check...yes...it's not a business use vehicle under those circumstances.

Feels like everywhere we go...someone's trying to get our money. Need to 'fight' to at least not get taken for a ride.

Insurance logic:

Base insurance: $2000. Covid comes along and WFH. Deduct $40

Base insurance $2000. No Covid and go from public transit to drive to work. Surcharge $200

Pretty sure I got a cheque for $20...

Air Canada employee who fell on stairs in her home eligible for worker’s compensation: Judge

If she's claiming that as a workplace injury, then she should have no issues with Air Canada going in and installing black and yellow safety grip tape on her nice hardwood staircase to reduce the chances of it happening again.

I would expect insurance adjustors / investigators to be hanging around the house for the next little while. And rightfully so.

EDIT: N/m...article states she's back at work.
