Wood fireplace

We have a lot of family that heat with wood, regular fireplaces, inserts, stoves and one with an 1890's cast behemoth with a copper boiler on the back. For some folks that have a 'smoke' type alergy, and I know one, it might not matter what you burn or how you burn it. She gets near a combusting fire inside a home and sneezes, eyes water, and if shes there long enough gets the coughs. Allergies really do suck.

Grew up in Southern England back in the time when coal was king. Last home was a gas fireplace, but now the new digs has a wood fireplace. Got a little fire going this past weekend reminded me of my younger years camping i was loving it. Downside is the wife is ultra allergic to everything. What's your go to choice of wood that emits less smell but still good packs a good punch on the heat output?
No open fireplace will make heat most make negative heat gain. If you put in a pacfic energy insert you can increase that to +80 efficiency from-10 and get rid of the smoke in the house. I did in our last house that had a fireplace and wish I had it here.

The fire logs I mentioned previously are on clearance for 40% off as they are changing the sku and the logs look a bit different.

I bagged 24 packs of the old stock for $2.99 a pack.

Check your local Rona for stock as they are on clearance.
