wisdom teeth

Hey all. Again, I need help.

Got a wisdom tooth in my lower left jaw that is causing me pain. I can't tell if it's impacted or not. I'm not a dentist but I know it's time to get it removed. My question is how much would it cost for one tooth the cheapest way possible? Meanwhile what could I do about the pain? please help me out, thanks to all again!!

I think last time I was quoted about $2000 can't remember if it's just one or both but man that's expensive. Maybe if you take it like a man with no laughing gas it's cheaper.

1) Go see the dentist

2) suck on salt water

I just went to the dentist today. She said my wisdom teeth is decaying and she's going to recommend me to a specialist. She said it could take a long time like half a year just to get the first consultation than another year to actually get the wisdom teeth out.

Wow I should have got my wisdom teeth out when I was in Ontario no wait needed at all.

I got quoted 2000$ for mine here in Canada. So i bought a ticket (1000$)to europe and paid 600$ to have them taken out with the gas plus had 400$ to spend and shop around for a week in Europe.

I had 3 removed by this guy a couple years ago.

$1400 all in, Took about 2 hours total as 2 came out pretty well and then he had to cut the last one into pieces and take it out a bit at a time. My teeth just like the rest of me are stubborn.

Pain afterwords is not to bad. Just do the rinses they will tell you about and be careful when eating. Your going to want to get it done sooner rather then later.

I have all four of mine still and they have given me trouble from time to time but I never got them out because of an injury to my jaw from a car accident (I was told having them out could make it worse). If they ever acted up I just would chew gum quite a bit and do salt water rinses. They haven't bothered me in maybe 10 yrs now. Even now my dentist wants to take them out but I won't do it and I have full coverage. Good luck with your tooth :)

I'll take them out for you for $10 and a case of Stella..I want the Stella before the job..you might want some too..

I am glad I never had wisdom teeth they sound like a pain.

Hells no! The laughing gas was one of the best experiences I've ever had! :D

I say go for this ^^^
Film it and put it on youtube, make yourself some money to pay to have the next ones taken out by an actual dentist ;)

I had the same trouble as Red for a few years. My wisdom teeth would erupt and recede, erupt and recede, to a point one day where they erupted a month before I was to be in Italy so I finally had them all removed at once. Recovery is a PITA (nothing but soft foods, fluids and lots and lots of tylenol 3!!) But the freedom from pain was amazing!! I literally ate everything not moving when I got off the plane in Rome. OP, if your in pain more than likely youre tooth is impacted. Salt water and listerine will help, but whos to say your teeth wont come and go, wont come and go, oh oh! Do the do and get the surg, man it will make you feel a hundred times better. If you can afford it, let them take all four of those bady boys, why torture yourself with multiple operations? Otherwise ask one fo your buddies to do this.

EDIT, dude if youre in pain and your tooth is not impacted, it could be infected. I would call a dental office for advice asap.

I put up with the occasional inflamation for years but one night while I was away on vacation one of the teeth decided decided to act up big time with massive pain so I had the lowers out. My uppers are fine.

Recovery was expected to be painful but it wasn't any big deal. Another concern is nerve damage but again I lucked out.

I can't remember the cost as it was covered by my wife's insurance.

Not all specialists are created equal. I had one of the best IMO but I know of people who have had bleeding problems and nerve issues at other clinics.

At one time if there was a concern about unusual conditions (Maybe Red's) you could have the work done at a hospital. OHIP paid for a lot of it but all that could be changed.

Before you go further with this please try this first:

I had all 4 wisdom teeth impacted (2 of them were turned 90 degrees from where they should have been!) and they were extracted for free, it was covered under the provincial health plan as a medical procedure, not a dental one. It was done in the hospital under general anesthesia.

Make an appointment with your GP doctor and discuss it as an option. I was just out of university and had no dental bennies or cash for this sort of thing, my doctor was sympathetic and was happy to help me out.

Caveat: this was 20 years ago and it was in BC, I'm not sure if it will work today under OHIP but it's worth it to at least try. What have you got to lose?

Good luck!

i got all four of mine removed, $350 each for btm teeth and $250 each for top teeth...

My dentist took one of mine out for $150.00 and i was awake for it and it took about 45 min.

Hey, I stayed at a Holiday Inn Express once..

I had all four removed for $1400, including follow up. Of course I would never recommend the doctor (in Dundas/hurontario area).

IF your tooth is aching, put toothpaste on it. I'm not joking it helped me a ton, but my pain came from the tooth and not the root. Fk before I had them out I had to pop advils every day just to go to sleep.

I got my wisdom teeth pullout back home (Colombia) by an actual doctor and it cost me for all 4 about $500 CA, a side from that it was a great vacation... There was nothing more sweet than being drunk for a full week just to help on my recovery and to kill the pain :D
