Winter Motorcycle Plans?

... This is the thread about WINTER plans, right?

Ok, fair enough, but I guess the "across the continent" will be mostly along the very south side of the USA then? Keep in mind that snow and cold sometimes reaches far further south than many sometimes realize.

When my parents were trying to decide a snowbird location they decided on South of Orlando as North of orlando was too cold to be worth the effort.

This has now moved from the "batshit crazy dream" stage to "officially planning" stage.
Let me know when you’re planning So Ca rides. I lived there for a decade, there are more crazy motorcycle runs in the greater LA area than the rest of the country. My 20km daily ride to work had 4 options more interesting that the Dragon.

I'm going to start a thread at some point, all input appreciated when I get it posted. (y)

This was the street my first house was on, Turnbull Canyon Rd. I had to ride those damn twists every day. Twice.

Geez, that must have been....terrible. /s

😆

It depends if your late for work. Hard to make up much time there.

Maybe it's just me, but even if I woke up on the wrong side of bed, after riding that on my way to work, I'd be in a better mood.

Around 2005, we thought we'd try Disney World at Christmas and we were freezing in our parkas while waiting in line for all the indoor rides. The news reported lizards falling out of the trees because it was so cold. But then a couple days later, the kids were in the outdoor swimming pool. On the way home, we drove through a snow storm in one of the Carolinas and the highway was surrounded by cars that had slid off the road. When we stopped for lunch at a diner, the waitress told us they're not used to getting snow, and people were sleeping in their cars in their lot.

I recently discovered I could legally purchase and own a vehicle in the USA...

Not sure about every state, you probably need a US licence to insure. It will differ by state, but I owned vehicles in CA, and TX. To plate and insure my car in FL, I have to get a FL licence.

Getting a licence is easy - but don’t do an licence exchange if you plan on returning to Ontario. learner and full test route.

Tell me more! I have family in California that I could probably leave a bike with. For all the times I've been there, sometimes multiple times a year, I've never ridden on their roads.

One winter, our company had a sales conference in Orlando. I flew my wife down and after the conference, we rented Harleys, rode down to Key West and spent a weekend there doing the #hoglife thing on the island, between the resort and the bar and the restaurants.
