Windshield replacement

No rain sensing wipers or camera's the highlander has 400000k on it now I am not worried that the windshield won't outlast the truck. It is also possible that the replacement is as good as the OEM one.

I am somewhat interested at replacing my windshield at some point. It's getting pretty scratched. The cunty audi forums consensus is cheap scratches easily and it's far not perfectly clear, sekurit is pretty cheap and really good. They provide OEM glass for some manufacturers. At <$300 I owe it to my eyes to put a new one on after this winter.

Have you ever been to the county fair, and seen the whacky mirror in the midway? The one that (depending how you look at it) makes you look 20' tall, or 10' wide.
That's how Chinese windshields usually are. Not to the whacky mirror extent, but I'm sure you know what I mean.
I had one a couple cars ago. It was just one spot, about the size of a football on the passenger side.
OEM glass makers won't let that crap pass inspection.

I know what you mean maybe I just got lucky this time but the Chinese one looks perfect also a very flat one with not much curve.

I'm pro clear glass with good viewing acumen. What ever it takes, I don't what everything to appear slanted.

Mine cracked yesterday.

Any recommendations for Durham region? If they were also a detailer that would be a bonus.

Great but neither of the links will open for me.

Got PMd a place in port

there's something wrong with your computer

most people would scoff, with good reason, at buying no name Chinese brand tires, why on earth would you use chinese windshields?

the fact is, windshields play a significant role in structure of the car, esp should it roll over. the Chinese no name brands simply don't meet those standards. They are cheap for a reason.

NO hope in hell you'll ever find one of these on my vehicles....

I drove with my windshield cracked for two years. Was about 6 inches form the bottom across the hole thing, didn't squeak or anything. Replaced it last week as I was getting new insurance and had to provide photos of my car, it cost $189+ tax to replace it at Star Auto Glass in Barrie, so far so good.

I called TDMM, and due to the deductible I have on policy, they would only pay the remaining portion after the ($500) deductible. This may be useful to those with sensors, or with HUD. Mine is plain glass, so no claims are made as the cost is less than $500.

Also, as mentioned before, glass claims don't affect insurance rates (at least with TDMM), so feel free to fix via insurance.

I also asked if I can remove the deductible, and get it fixed that way. The representative said that it's only possible to reduce the deductible after the windshield is fixed.

Holy crap. $190 is cheap.

Best I've gotten is 400 with the interior detailed

The best guys I've dealt with for detailing are located in Pickering, name of the shop is Shammy's Auto Detailing.

Looks like they do windshields there as well, call him and ask him for a quote. If the price is too high for the glass, just get your car detailed and I can refer you to my glass guy. He's mobile and can meet you anywhere in the east end.

windshields cannot be sold in Canada unless they meet standards.

Unless you have evidence that Chinese windshields poses a danger everything you said doesn't mean anything.

yah ok, those $300 "cash deals" places buy their windshields legit....

I got a receipt for my 180 dollar windshield from a legit glass place. No cash deal windshield has all the official looking approvals on it
