i legit dont own any bright clolors. will you get points taken off for this? i have the denim jacket, leather gloves, and boots and denim pants, just no bright colors.. thank you

I did mine in a black leather jacket, black gloves, black helmet. If you pass the skills, you pass the skills.

Doesn't matter, the only people who care about clothing are the college courses for liability I guess. I saw a guy do a ministry test in shorts and a tshirt with no gloves. Just a helmet. Basically the stuff you need by law.

Any school requires DOT helmet (even if you're a Sikh and their special helmet exemption), minimum heavy duty jean jacket and pants, gloves that fully cover the hands (not fingerless) and cover wrists well (dirt bike gloves no good) and boots that cover the ankles well (hikers are fine, Blundstones with elastic ankle areas are no good).

Why? Insurance. Plain and simple.

Just like if you go to the USA and ride helmet-less, your insurance is null and void if you hurt your melon. You signed under Canadian law, Canadian insurance law, and therefor must wear a helmet if you want coverage.

People will ask, "But why? We're allowed to by US law!!" Don't believe me? Call your insurance and ask. I'm not going to debate it.

Take lots of water with you.

Indeed. I wore running shoes at my ministry M test knowing they didn't give a **** beyond the helmet.

You won't get away with it at a course unless they're branded from a motorcycle gear manufacturer and over the ankle.

Funny enough, but all leather work gloves that cover the wrist will do.

I'm going to double check at some point, but I don't think the kevlar woven work shirts pass either.

I did the m1 exit via a college course but took my chances (today actually) doing the m2 exit through the ministry and passed.

Is the Ministry using iPads to mark the test, that you know of?

Edit: Doesn't matter. They track speed apparently, but that would be the speed of the chase car, and not the bike being tested.

They have *ALWAYS* tracked speed.... chase car drives speed limit. If you pull like crazy, they will accelerate to match. If over by too much, there's a ding on your demerits. Since they have no way of accurately visually guesstimating speed, they need to match to get correct reading.

If they need to accelerate to over by 12-13 at any point to match, may as well pack it up and go home.

I wonder what happens if you get dinged by a photo radar during the test.

Testers don't have instant access to photo radar results, so I am guessing my earlier point takes precedence. If the chase vehicle needs to speed above X% to maintain gap to you, you're done.

Just be happy that the majority of Japanese and European bikes have their speedometers reading 6-10% high.

I did at least 20 over on my M2 exit without losing points. The guy said he could see me looking for a speed limit sign and I slowed down once I saw the 50 max sign. I didn't know the area and it seemed like we were leaving town. Scared the **** out of me.

I was actually told to speed up! I was in a traffic jam and cars were cutting corners all around me. I told the instructor, I was doing the speed limit and was maintaining blocking position..

..She said, "you're in Brampton!" :p

..gave me a passing grade anyways! :p
