Why we need to pay attention, and target fixation:

There's a follow-up to this. After the vehicles were taken away from this wreck, another rider crashed in the remaining spilled fluids on the road, which were apparently not very well cleaned up nor was there any warning given of potential hazards ahead.

I know the local rider involved in the second crash. Very, very competent rider who did not deserve this. Get well soon, Jeff.

Don't know what lead to this, but another reason why I don't do blind turns "balls out"

I was surprised by the violence of the collision ... I wonder what the closing speed was.

That's why you survey the road first before you go balls out. Judging by the severity of the accident and the fact that he's local, I'm guessing he was riding pretty hard? Also, is that cruiser water cooled? Otherwise I'm guessing the fluids would have came from the car. Unless it was oil which I guess is a possibility judging from the force of impact.

I think the high speed camera really slowed down the effects of it. You can even see the treads of the tire, lol

I wonder if he was running a car tire? :D

I wonder if the first rider hit the same fluids as the second?

He went from full lean to full upright rather abruptly.

The fluids were put down by the first collision. Road was clean prior to the first collision. Rider error.

The tail of the dragon is fun... but I am not sure I want to run it again... too many idiots coming the other way (including truckers)... I even saw a similar incident happen right in front of me during my last trip down (but bike-on-bike)...

Very curious what type of helmet he had.
Scorpion Beanie.

The fluids were caused by the collision. They are not an issue today but I saw the marks from the crash and spill. Vette driver is lucky because there is almost no runoff in that corner.

Talked to US129Photo guys today.

Apparently the rider walked away. He then proceeded to blame the dragon photographers for causing the crash. The rider had only been riding for 3 weeks...

No word on any injuries but I imagine after the adrenaline wore off he was hurting.

Remember kids, look where you want to go. Looking at the object you dont want to hit is going to make you hit it.

Hitting the dragon after only riding for 3 weeks... Maybe not the smartest thing to do?

Went up to Belfountain today and there are still quite a few riders doing the wave in the turns. Obviously haven't seen the video.
